2 Dedicated Leader Award The Dedicated Leader Award recognizes a troop/group leader, assistant leader or coordinator for continued outstanding performance working with girls. The nominee is an active, registered adult Girl Nominee has completed required training. Has completed 5th year in position. Continued to provide exemplary leadership above and beyond the job description. Demonstrates outstanding performance in at least two of the following: - Involving adults in the community to help broaden program opportunities for girls - Increasing girl membership to support the council membership goal. - Following the Girl Scout processes of girl lead, learning by doing and cooperative learning. By electing a wide range of program activities including Journeys, S.T.E.M., Outdoor Learning, and/or Financial Literacy based initiatives. - Encourages girls helping girls to recognize, understand, and practice the values of inclusive behavior Any individual or group may nominate Attach supporting documentation: 3 letters in 1 letter must come from an adult, and 2 letters must come from Girl Scout troop members Dedicated Trainer The Dedicated Trainer award recognizes an individual s exemplary service to Girl Scouts as a trainer. This award recognition requires approval by the Council Training Department, and the Volunteer Awards Committee. The nominee has completed appropriate training or has demonstrated competence in communication, training development, pluralism and delivery. The nominee has trained for a minimum of six years (or four years since receiving the Master Trainer designation). Must have continued to provide exemplary leadership above and beyond the job description. Any group or individual may nominate. Attach supporting documentation: 1 letter in Volunteer of Excellence The Volunteer of Excellence award recognizes those volunteers who have contributed outstanding service while partnering directly with girls in any pathway to implement the Girl Scout Leadership Experience (GSLE) through use of the National Program Portfolio (Journeys), or who have contributed outstanding service in support of the council s mission delivery to girl and adult members. The nominee has successfully completed a term of service and all requirements for the position. The nominee has performed beyond expectations for the position to deliver the GSLE through the National Program Portfolio (Journeys), S.T.E.M., Outdoor Learning, and/or Financial Literacy based initiatives to girls. This service, which has had measurable impact on one geographic area of service, helps the council reach and surpass its mission-delivery goals for that area. The Honor Pin recognizes an individual s exemplary service in support of delivering the Girl Scout Leadership Experience (GSLE), which has had measurable impact on two or more geographic areas of service, allowing the council to reach and surpass its mission-delivery goals. The Thanks Badge honors an individual whose ongoing commitment, leadership, and service have had an exceptional, measurable impact on meeting the missiondelivery goals and priorities of the entire council or the entire Girl Scout Movement. The nominee's performance has been beyond the expectations of the position and has supported the council's mission-delivery goals in one or more of the following functional areas: Membership Development and Retention, Community Cultivation, Volunteer Relations and Support, Program, Leadership and Governance, and Fund Development based initiatives. The nominee actively recognizes, understands, and practices the values of inclusive behavior. The service performed by the nominee is above and beyond the expectations for the position held, and made an impact on one geographic area within the council s jurisdiction in membership growth and retention, community development and cultivation, volunteer relations and support, fund development, or increased community visibility. 4 Thanks Badge II President s Award NEW: Emerald Award Recognized at the council level by CEO. The Thanks Badge II honors a previous Thanks Badge recipient who has continued to provide exemplary service in a leadership role, resulting in a measurable impact that benefits the entire Girl Scout Movement. The nominee has already received the Thanks Badge. The President s Award recognizes the efforts of a service-delivery team or committee whose exemplary service in support of delivering the Girl Scout Leadership Experience surpassed team goals and resulted in significant, measurable impact toward reaching the council s overall goals. A service unit may self-nominate themselves. Individual troops do not qualify for this award. Up to 5 Service Units may be awarded per year. The Emerald Award recognizes volunteers whose leadership, initiative, and energy have strengthened the Girl Scout movement, made a significant contribution to the Girl Scout Mission, and who exemplify the true spirit of Girl Scouts. This award can only be earned once in a lifetime. The nominee has received the Thanks Badge. The outstanding service performed by the nominee resulted in outcomes that benefitted the entire Girl Scout organization, and is so significantly above and beyond the call of duty that no other award would be appropriate. All service-team members are registered Girl Scouts. All service-team members have met all requirements and expectations of the positions held. Community Partnership Plaque The Community Partnership Award honors an individual, group or organization outside of the Girl Scout organization who has partnered with GSHNJ and whose service has resulted in significant benefits to girls or council. The nominee is an individual, group or organization outside the Girl Scout organization. The nominee has made an outstanding contribution to the success of Girl Scouting, or the nominee s service or partnership has created a pronounced impact on a troop, area, or council. GSHNJ council CEO nominates candidate. The Juliette Gordon Low World Friendship Medal Recognized by GSUSA. The Juliette Low World Friendship Medal is awarded to individuals and councils who have enriched and leveraged the global understanding of Girl Guiding and Girl Scouting to grow responsible global citizens. This prestigious national award is approved by the Girl Scouts of the USA National Board of Directors. Impact on girls: The nominee s efforts include girl involvement resulting in increased opportunities for girl-led global opportunities and Take Action projects resulting in significant global impact. Commitment: The nominee has demonstrated dedication and commitment over a significant amount of time by continuously promoting and expanding the global dimension of Girl Guiding and Girl Scouting. The nominee has promoted the Juliette Low World Friendship fund or other global Girl Scouting funding opportunities. Global awareness: The nominee has created and promoted resources and opportunities that increase the understanding of the global dimension of Girl Guiding and Girl Scouting to the council and the larger community. Leadership: The nominee is recognized by girl and adult members, and the larger community, as a leader who leverages the global impact of Girl Guiding and Girl Scouting. Membership: The nominee is a current registered Girl Scout adult member in a council or USA Girl Scouts Overseas. A Girl Scout council* or individual nominates a candidate or council* that meets all the criteria and has not previously received this award. The GSUSA nomination form is to be completed in full and submitted along with two letters of endorsement describing how the nominee meets the criteria for the award. Nominations may be submitted at any time by mailing the nomination form and endorsement letters to the Vice President of Global Girl Scouting at the address provided on the form. The nomination is presented to the International Commissioner for review. Final approval is by the GSUSA National Board of Directors. Upon approval, the Vice President of Global Girl Scouting will coordinate the presentation of the award to the nominee.
