A nonpartisan organization representing nearly 45,000 current and former Army and Air National Guard officers created in 1878 to provide united National Guard representation before Congress. Today, as then, purpose is to procure better equipment, standardized training and a more combat-ready force by petitioning Congress for resources. NGAUS is not the National Guard Bureau

13 NGEF National Guard Educational Foundation Purpose: To achieve an awareness of the rich heritage and continuing contributions of the National Guard and tell the Guard s story. Established in 1975, non-profit 501(c)(3) Operates independent of NGAUS, but is co-located Maintains the National Guard Memorial Museum and Library, the National Guard Monument in Normandy, France and the DRS Scholarship Fund for Children of Fallen Guardsman Relies solely on charitable contributions. 14 Resolutions What they are? A legislative idea that a State (Member) would like NGAUS to work and gain support with Congress Resolutions provide a means for articulating the need for a specific requirement Resolutions lead to Legislative Objectives Process currently being refined
15 NGAUS Task Forces What are NGAUS Task Forces? Serve as special committees appointed by the NGAUS Chairman of the Board, with the concurrence of the Board of Directors. Provide long-range and strategic direction to the association in designated functional areas relating National Guard readiness, modernization, force structure, and other matters of importance to our membership. Work closely with the NGAUS legislative staff throughout the resolutions cycle. What do the Task Forces accomplish for NGAUS? Provide input to Draft resolutions Advise the General Conference on resolutions Provide input for Fact Sheets and Information Papers Address special issues assigned by the Chairman of the Board Provide subject matter expertise on issues relating to the Army and Air National Guard.
16 NGAUS Task Force Areas ARMY JOINT AIR ARMY AVIATION COMBAT VEHICLE COMMAND, CONTROL, COMMUNICATIONS, COMPUTERS & INTEL (C4I) FIRE SUPPORT COMBAT SUPPORT COMBAT SERVICE SUPPORT (CS/CSS) PERSONNEL/BENEFITS MEDICAL DOMESTIC OPERATIONS COMBAT AIR FORCES MOBILITY AIR FORCES COMBAT SUPPORT MISSION SUPPORT ENGINEER
17 Task Force Meetings Meeting Requirements - Meetings of the task force are at the call of the task force chair. At least two-thirds of the voting body of the task force must be present to satisfy quorum requirements. It is recommended that task forces meet as necessary. A minimum of two meetings per year are requested in order to facilitate NGAUS business in a timely manner: Prior to NGAUS Board - For the purpose of reviewing and commenting on NGAUS draft resolutions to be considered at the upcoming general conference. This review is documented on the applicable NGAUS tracking sheet. September-November: - Within 45 days after the NGAUS General Conference, task forces meet to prioritize the adopted resolutions. In addition to prioritizing resolutions, the task forces must also assist in formulating fact sheets and drafting new resolutions for the following year s resolution process. Resolutions -Task forces play a prominent role in the NGAUS resolutions process. The NGAUS legislative staff will coordinate with task force chairs and identify which task forces are responsible for each resolution.
