led us to explore the area of travel-related stress * Survey ran between July 10, 2012 and September 3, 2012 CWT Solutions Group Copyright - Copyright CWT CWT 5
Travel stress can be grouped in 3 non-mutually exclusive categories e.g. Getting through customs and security e.g. Traveling during week-ends e.g. Lost or delayed baggage CWT Solutions Group Copyright - Copyright CWT CWT 6
Overall, the main stress drivers* all have a lost time component Lost or Delayed Baggage Poor/No Internet Connection Flying economy on Medium/Long Haul Delays * Top 4 stress factors (highest-stress factors scoring above 70 over the entire respondent population) Routine breakers Time lost Surprises CWT Solutions Group Copyright - Copyright CWT CWT 7

speaking foreign languages plays a significant role in lowering stress CWT Female travelers report on average 4pts of stress more than their male counterparts Those living with a partner and/or having children show similar patterns where they report a respective +8pts and +4pts for traveling during weekends and long stays compared to those living alone As soon as you speak 2 languages, your stress level reduces by 15pts CWT Solutions Group Copyright - Copyright CWT CWT 12

so that the more you travel CWT Solutions Group Copyright - Copyright CWT CWT 14
the more your stress level increases CWT Solutions Group Copyright - Copyright CWT CWT 15
Different traveler demographic segment react differently to stress CWT Female travelers report on average 4pts of stress more than their male counterparts Those living with a partner and/or having children show similar patterns where they report a respective +8pts and +4pts for traveling during weekends and long stays compared to those living alone The cumulative effect of stress : A difference of 4 stress points is measured between frequent (>30 trips per year) and occasional travelers As soon as you speak 2 languages, your stress level reduces by 15pts CWT Solutions Group Copyright - Copyright CWT CWT 16
with always a predominant stress driver category per demographic CWT Solutions Group Copyright - Copyright CWT CWT 17
reinforcing the need for companies to adapt their travel policies adapting one s travel policy according to the identified traveler segments Understanding travelers demographic segments and what trigger stress for them and increasing the productivity levels of a specific traveler category could offer a different approach to tactically decreasing the stress CWT Solutions Group Copyright - Copyright CWT CWT 18
Next steps The research presented in this publication is the first step in a wider initiative to quantify the impact of travel-related stress on an organization. The data and results from this study will be leveraged to build an overall measure of stress and to assess the corresponding productivity impact on an organization. Our ultimate goal will be to provide recommendations to tackle the hidden costs of business travel. Stay tuned more to come in April!!! CWT Solutions Group Copyright - Copyright CWT CWT 19
