4 Background: General Internship Definition: A form of experiential learning For student: to integrate academic knowledge with practical application and skills development in a professional setting which value for their future career paths Internship is to enable students to efficiently gain practical skills (METI) For employers, internship is as an opportunity to guide and evaluate talent for hiring process. 10 SOI Asia Internship Program (SAIP) -New design Virtual Internship Program (VIP)- Virtual internship is the use of an ICT supported environment where students interact with each other and companies more than 8 hours a week at work place outside company s office. PURPOSES: to save transportation cost and increase more opportunities for both the best company and talent students to trial working for the future employment Activities (4 weeks) Group oriented collaborative project: 3-5 students per group + company representatives Workshop (60-90 minutes) (Guideline for telework, icebreaking, discussion for problem solving, discussion) Job content: 2 options (*Other job is acceptable) 1. Business oriented (Market research & analysis/creative Business plan) 2. Technology oriented (Prototype development/testing) Requirements: ENGLISH is the major language Willing to learn and work in international context, Comfortable in distance environment, Aim for the future strong collaboration of Japan-Asia Working hours: at least 8 hours Deliverables by student: weekly short report, final presentation, final report and/or prototype Deliverables by company: weekly feedbacks, SAIP performance evaluation form, * Certificate will be given to students who meet expectations of company (Score > 75%) Evaluated by supervisor using SAIP performance evaluation form (Score will be disclosed) 10
