Multiple $1,000 scholarships awarded to siblings, parents, and children Candidate: Available to anyone with a bleeding disorder, family members of those with a bleeding disorder, or family members of someone who died due to complications of a bleeding disorder. The applicant must be a Maryland resident, or a student seeking a post- secondary education, including a college, university or trade school in the state of Maryland. The applicant s home must be located in Prince Georges or Montgomery County, Maryland, Northern Virginia, or Washington, DC. Scholarship awards are meant for either high school seniors and undergraduates attending an accredited nonprofit college, university, vocational, or technical school in the US, or college seniors planning to attend graduate school or students enrolled in graduate school. Sutton 300 Maritime Avenue White Plains, NY MicroSoft Disability Scholarship DEADLINE: MARCH 15, 2014 The mission of DisAbility Scholarship at Microsoft is to empower and enable high schools students with disabilities to (a) go to college, (b) realize the impact technology has on the world, and (c) target a career in the technology industry. A primary goal of this scholarship is to increase the pool of persons living with a disability enrolling in higher education and, in long term, decrease the unemployment bias for this demographic. This scholarship will identify promising high school seniors who have 4

5 potential to enter and successfully complete a vocational or academic college program and have a financial need. The amount of this non-renewable scholarship to be awarded is $5,000, which is paid through the Seattle Foundation on behalf of the disability Employee Resource Group (ERG) at Microsoft to the recipient s school s Financial Aid Office. All candidates must be high school students living with a disability who plan to attend a 2 to 4 year University or College program, maintain a cumulative 3.0 CPA or equivalent and have declared a major from the approved list (see scholarship guidelines on application). 9 Scholarship for Women with Bleeding Disorders 2014 DEADLINE APRIL 15, 2014 Candidate: The Victory for Women Program (V4W) is proud to announce an academic scholarship for women with bleeding disorders commemorating Doreen McMullan McCarthy, a young nurse and loving mother, who passed away from complications of von Willebrand Disease in 1979 when she was 25 years old. This scholarship is named in her honor, and those family members who keep her spirit alive: her mother, Connie McMullan, her brother, Patrick McMullan, and her son, Jamie McCarthy.
