1 Ministry of Education Huayu Enrichment Scholarship I. Purpose To encourage international students and individuals to undertake Mandarin study in Taiwan, the Ministry of Education of the Republic of China (Taiwan) establishes a Ministry of Education Huayu Enrichment Scholarship program, which provides study opportunities for Mandarin language at university or college affiliated Mandarin training centers in Taiwan. II. Value A stipend of NT$25,000 (approximately US$833) is to be offered to a recipient by month. IIII. Duration Maximum to one year (According to the course terms applicant apply for.) Annual award periods are from September 1st through August 31st. IV. Eligibility An applicant must meet all of the following criteria: a. Over 18 years old, b. Possess senior high school diploma or above and be of good moral character, c. Does not have the status of an overseas Chinese student, d. Is not a current student in Taiwan, e. Is not an exchange student in Taiwan at the time of receiving a HES scholarship, f. Is not a current recipient of a scholarship or subsidy offered by Taiwan government or institution in Taiwan. V. Application Applicants must send their completed documents to the Taipei Economic and Cultural Center( N-88, Panchsheel Park, New Delhi ). The application period is from March 1 through March 31. 2 application form. The application please send by registered mail. Total number of scholarship is six (6) for academic year. A complete application includes the following materials: a. A completed application form. b. Photocopy of passport or other nationality certificates. c. Photocopy of the highest-level diploma and a complete grade transcript. d. Supporting admission application material (e.g. photocopy of application form to any Mandarin Center. Please visit for more information and the list of Mandarin Center). VI. Selection Process Paper screening and Interview. VII. Remark If recipients fail to arrive in Taiwan to study during this period, their award status will be cancelled and cannot be extended for another year. If recipients begin their studies after the study term/quarter starts, their award period will become effective from the month they arrive in Taiwan to matriculate at their individual Mandarin training centers. Whether beginning in September or later, the award period ends in August. In terms of the actual award period for this Mandarin study program, it will begin from the month that recipients arrive in Taiwan to matriculate at their intended Mandarin training centers. All awards will end the month their specified award period is completed. However, if recipients drop out, are expelled from their institutions, or their scholarships are revoked, whichever comes first, the award will be terminated.
