The protocol will be taught with video case illustrations and a practicum. Learn how to treat trauma memories that have not yet been consolidated or integrated. This protocol may be used not only to treat acute distress but may also provide a window of opportunity in which a brief intervention, possibly on successive days, could prevent complications and strengthen resilience. 2 EMDR R-TEP in Edmonton (June 9, 2017 full day 9 a.m. 5 p.m.) Recent-Traumatic Episode Protocol (R-TEP) & EMDR G-TEP in Edmonton (June 10, 2017 ½ day 9:00 a.m. 1:30 p.m.) Group Traumatic Episode Protocol (G-TEP) Dr Judy Moench is facilitating an Advanced Training in Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR) Recent-Traumatic Episode Protocol (R-TEP) and EMDR Group Traumatic Episode Protocol (G-TEP). Participants may select to attend one day or both days of training. One Day June 9 th R-TEP ONLY $ (Must have completed EMDR Basic Training) Half Day June 10 th G-TEP ONLY $ (Recommend completion of R-TEP Training) Both Days June 9 th and 10 th - $ (before May 12, 2017) *gst will be added to prices above Objectives of Course: June 9, 2017 (R-TEP training) Participants will learn how to implement EMDR R-TEP safely and effectively within a variety of clinical contexts. This training is rooted in the theoretical basis of Early EMDR Intervention (EEI), and provides instruction on how to create containment and safety, as well as how to implement all eight phases of the EMDR R-TEP. It will teach participants how to navigate safety issues and help clients consolidate or integrate trauma memories using a brief intervention, possibly on successive days. The protocol will be taught using video case illustrations and practical application. Participants must have completed the Basic Training in EMDR to register. June 10, 2017 (G-TEP training) Participants will learn a simplified EMDR protocol that can be rapidly taught to use in emergency situations. The workshop presents a new practical application of the Group Traumatic Episode Protocol (EMDR G-TEP). It will be taught using video illustrations and practice. G-TEP has been shown to have beneficial results in controlled studies. Participants must have completed the Basic Training in EMDR. It is recommended that R-TEP training is also completed prior. Instructor: Judy Moench, PhD., RPsych. EMDDIA Approved Consultant Dr Judy Moench is a Registered Psychologist in Edmonton, Alberta working in private practice with children, adolescents, and adults. She is also an Adjunct Professor at the University of Alberta and provides consultation to other therapists. Judy has served as Executive Director of a not-for-profit counselling agency and also worked extensively with schools. She has had the opportunity to speak locally, nationally, and internationally. She holds a volunteer position as the President of EMDR Canada. Currently, Judy works with a variety of client needs from anxiety and depression to more severe posttraumatic stress, difficulties adjusting to new situations, and overwhelming life events. She has an interest in working with recent traumatic events. Over the years, she has participated in trauma trainings in Canada, United States, Europe, and Israel. She hosts and facilitates trauma trainings for psychologists and social workers in Edmonton and has been to Israel and France to assist in the facilitation of trainings for working with trauma. Judy has recently compiled a manual for working with groups who have been involved in a recent traumatic event (EMDR G-TEP). The manual has been translated into 4 languages as is being used in different parts of the world. It is based on the work of Elan Shapiro. Judy is one of three people in Canada who has been trained as a trainer for the R-TEP and G-TEP protocols.
