1 EMERGENCY PREPAREDNESS AND THE CITY OF ORLANDO PEOPLE WITH SPECIAL NEEDS (PSN) PROGRAM
2 What is Emergency Preparedness? The ability to survive on your own for a period of time after a critical event, such as a hurricane, tornado, earthquake, etc
3 Why Prepare? Being prepared can reduce fear, anxiety, and losses that accompany disasters. Individuals and families should know what to do in the event of a fire and where to seek shelter during a tornado. They should be ready to evacuate their homes and take refuge in public shelters, if needed. They should know how to take care of their basic medical needs. Being prepared can reduce the impact of disasters and sometimes avoid the danger completely.
