2 Presentation Overview Why we created this program To meet communities where they are Goals To prepare as many residents and businesses as possible for a resilient community Development/Deployment Program was developed in 2015 and deployed beginning February 2016 to both residents and City of Dallas Employees We have trained nearly 550 employees & reached thousands residents since April
3 Successes Modules Online Individual learning through English & Spanish videos, preparedness information, and other resources Classes Basic videos Know Hazards, Build a Kit, Make a Plan min Interactive Community Class Guidebook with activities First aid kit bonus for completion CERT Increased the number of residents trained by approximately 272% and Increases the number of classes conducted by approximately 45% between 2016 and

Engaging our public-private partnerships Engaging ISDs, community groups, etc. Encouraging residents to request information and presentations Next steps Involve more residents through community outreach and events Train and utilize our CERT volunteers in greater cap Expand scope of PPP and private sector involvement in emergency response 4
5 Public-Private Partnerships OEM works with private and non-profit partners through our Dallas Emergency Response Team (DERT) DERT NEWSLETTER released quarterly with topical articles to our partners like weather safety, events, and current issues WEBSITE - OEM maintains the DERT website with training/exercise info, resources, and other information SYMPOSIUM - an annual, half-day event with speakers, presentations, and demos from areas important to our partners RESOURCE MANUAL an evolving publication providing basic information, phone numbers, and response guides for emergencies 5
