Canaport LNG Participates in Take Our Kids to Work Day Take Our Kids to Work Day is an annual career exploration day in which grade nine students go to work with their parents. Throughout the course of the day students have the chance to learn about the world of work, and are provided with a unique experience seeing exactly what the work day means through the eyes of their parents. Aimed at teaching students about the different career paths available to them, the purpose of this activity is to prompt them to think about what types of jobs they might be interested in pursuing after they complete high school. This year Canaport LNG had four students participate from Rothesay High School, Sussex High School, Simonds High School and Saint John High School. The students spent the day at our terminal learning about the many different jobs it takes to run our facility and they also had the opportunity to take a detailed walking tour of the site. Connor, Bryant, Sydney and Kaitlyn were able to see in detail the role their parents play in running Canaport LNG. We hope they learned a lot and we were very pleased to host them for the day!

3 Canaport LNG S Upgrade Project Invests $3 Million Into Saint John Economy Canaport LNG has spent over $3 million to the benefit of local Saint John businesses since the beginning of construction in April, Canaport LNG s $43 million upgrade project has spent over $3 million to the benefit of local Saint John businesses since the beginning of construction in April, Over 30 local suppliers have been contracted to supply equipment and manpower for the project, with approximately 50 local workers employed on site since construction began in April. The upgrade project remains on schedule with additional workers and suppliers expected at the Terminal until the upgrades are finished, with the project scheduled for completion by the end of The Canaport LNG Terminal will remain online during the construction period with minimal interruption to operations as a result of the construction activities. This project will result in approximately $12 million in direct expenditure on labour and materials for local businesses in New Brunswick. In February, Canaport LNG announced plans to upgrade the Terminal s Boil-Off Gas (BOG) system. Completion of this project will reduce the amount of BOG sent to flare, resulting in the reduction of the Terminal s emissions.

4 Community Involvement Soap Box Derby a fantastic opportunity for PALS The All American Soap Box Derby provides a fantastic opportunity for students from all of Saint John s schools to have the chance to be a race car driver for a day. Canaport LNG is a PALS partner to Forest Hills School and with the school s help chose a driver and pit crew to drive their car. Logan Kirkpatrick from Forest Hills School did an excellent job as driver while Caleb Rogers and Nick Trott-Love were the official pit crew. We also had unofficial pit crew members Thomas Brow, Kiley Brow, Jackie Brow, Ryan Tobin and Coalton Kirkpatrick as well as excellent teacher and parent helpers Melissa Savoie, Erika Brown and Don Love. All pit crew members were responsible for loading and unloading the car and ensuring the driver was ready for the race everyone took their duties seriously and they did a great job! Mispec Beach Clean Up Mispec Beach is one of Saint John s most naturally beautiful areas. When a large group of residents wanted to organize a community clean up, Canaport LNG wanted to help. In August, along with a dedicated group of Saint John citizens, we hosted a morning clean up and BBQ to promote the beauty of the beach and to raise awareness about keeping the beach clean for beach goers. Even though it was a rainy and foggy day, that didn t stop our volunteers! We had a great crowd and we want to thank everyone for their participation - the dedication of the volunteers made the day a success!

5 Canaport LNG Scholarship recipient Sheldon Wood begins third year of medical degree Sheldon Wood, the recipient of the $140,000 Canaport LNG Scholarship to Dalhousie Medical New Brunswick, recently began the third year of his medical degree. In 2010, Canaport LNG created a four year, fully funded scholarship for one student attending Dalhousie Medicine New Brunswick, the first medical school in the province. The scholarship provides full tuition costs, books and equipment and living expenses for one student for the full four years of their medical degree, at $35,000 per year. Sheldon is thankful for the opportunity the scholarship provided him: The bursary has improved the lives of my family by minimizing the large financial stress and burden that comes with medical school. The past two years, I have been able to focus on my studies without the added stress and constant concern regarding finances. The Dalhousie Medicine New Brunswick program is not tied to any particular location but is spread across four campuses; Saint John, Miramichi, Fredericton and Moncton. In the first two years Sheldon attended classes in Saint John and in his final two years he will fan out across the province to complete his clerkship. Beginning in August he began working around the province between various hospitals and working within different departments such as internal medicine, surgery, emergency medicine, family, psychiatry, obstetrics & gynaecology, and pediatrics. My schedule has me primarily in Fredericton and Saint John. I will also be working in other more rural areas as part of my Family Medicine rotations, but still within the province, said Sheldon. Sheldon and his family made the move to Fredericton while he completes the third and fourth year of his degree. The Canaport LNG scholarship has helped him travel easily without the financial worry and allows him to spend more time studying. Upon completing his MD, Sheldon will then complete a residency program. My long term goal is to complete a 2 year residency in Family Medicine, although that could still change. Regardless, the intent is for us to remain within the province long term. Canaport LNG is proud to support Sheldon as he continues his degree in medicine. Helping Clean Up Marsh Creek Saint John Dragon Boat Festival The 6th Annual Marsh Creek was once again a success with over 140 volunteers on hand helping clean up the creek and surrounding areas. Working throughout the morning, we collected about 3.5 tonnes of garbage, significantly less than when we began this event in It is wonderful to see our volunteers make such a difference in changing the amount of garbage that accumulates over the year we know their efforts are making an impact and we thank each and every one of them for dedicating their time to this event, year after year. It was an epic year for the Canaport LNG Dragon Boat team - after five years of participating in this event, for the first time ever, Canaport LNG was able to celebrate a win in one of their heats! Regardless of the win, the team had a great day and we are looking forward to participating in this community event again next year!

6 S A F E T Y U P D A T E Emergency Response Exercise Safety Smart On October 24th, we conducted our annual mock emergency exercise. The purpose of participating in these exercises year after year is to test our Terminal s emergency plan and response, and also to gauge our preparedness in the event that such an emergency occurs. Mock emergency exercises involve a number of different scenarios, with the situation changing each year to ensure all potential scenarios are considered. At Canaport LNG, safety is not just a set of rules; it s our way of life. In an effort to provide continuous training opportunities to our employees, Canaport LNG has implemented Safety Smart, an online safety training software program. A wide variety of courses are offered, including confined space training, basic construction safety, fall protection, materials handling and ergonomics, and many others. The emergency exercise includes the entire Canaport LNG team. Working closely with local police and fire departments, the City of Saint John and the provincial and local emergency management organizations, the yearly exercise helps us remain familiar with the emergency plan, as well as test and improve our preparedness. The safety of our employees and the community is our top priority, making this exercise an integral part of our safety program which we will continue long into the future. Canaport LNG s safety department is responsible for ensuring all employees are provided with the proper training and resources to perform their jobs safely, and the addition of Safety Smart is yet another step in realizing this goal.
