2 General Instructions. 1. HCT Early online registration period will commence on Sunday the 9 th of April 2017 and conclude on Thursday the 17 th of April Make sure that you received the required pin that will be used during online registration. 3. The registration Pin is 6 digits (i.e ), it is different than your portal password. 4. Registration pin is used once in a term, it cannot be used to register for other terms. 5. Keep your alternative pin in a safe place. Do not share your HCT registration pin with any one. 6. Please visit Academic Services at your campus for any help required during the online registration. 7. HCT early online registration will open for students in stages and according to their level of seniority. 8. HCT Students who completed %75 or more from their Academic Program will have the opportunity to register online from 12am of Sunday the 9 th of April till 12am of Monday the 10 th of April HCT Students who completed %50 or more from their Academic Program will have the opportunity to register online from 12am of Tuesday the 11 th of April till 12am of Wednesday the 12 th of April HCT Students who completed %25 or more from their Academic Program will have the opportunity to register online from 12am of Thursday the 13 th of April till 12am of Friday the 14 th of April HCT Students who completed less than %25 from their Academic Program will have the opportunity to register online from 12am of Saturday the 15 th of April till 12am of Sunday the 16 th of April All HCT Students will have access to online registration from 12am of Monday the 17 th of April until 12am of Tuesday the 18 th of April Early registration will allow registering a course if you are registering its pre- requisite in the current term. 2

3 14. You ll be asked to confirm your registration once the term started, to check if you pass the pre- requisites of the registered courses. 15. If you do not confirm your registration at the beginning of the term, your registration will be cancelled automatically. 3

4 Accessing portal to register: 1- Visit HCT portal 2- Or Click on My profile. 4

5 3- Click on Recommended Courses Available Schedule from the Advising and Online Registration Menu 4- Take a note of your preferred CRNs as you will use them for registration. 5- Click on My Registration Time/Register online from the Student Self Services Menu: 5

6 6- Choose the Registration term carefully ( Summer I 2017 or Summer II 2017): 7- You will be prompted to enter the alternative pin provided by your advisor. 6

7 8- Enter the 6 digits pin and click on submit. 9- If you didn t receive or forget you APin, please contact your advisor or Academic services at your campus. 10- Once the correct Pin is entered, Banner will check your registration time eligibility: 7

8 a. If you are not eligible to register, you ll get the below message. Please visit the academic services office in your campus to check the issue. b. If you are eligible to register but have different time ticket to register, Banner will show you the available time to register. c. If you are eligible to register and you have the correct time, you can register online. 8

9 How to Register Online? Once you entered the APIN, and you have the correct time to register, the below sheet will be open for you to register classes. You have three options to register: 1- Add the CRN manually 2- Lookup classes to register 3- Use the advanced search to lookup classes to register 9

10 1- Adding the CRN manually: CRN is the unique reference number for your section. You can get this code from the Recommended Courses Available Schedule: as explained above. Enter one or more CRNs to the add classes Worksheet and click on Submit Changes to Register. 1 1

11 If successfully registered, Early Web registration will appear next to each registered class (CRN). If you changed your mind and wanted to drop one of the sections, you can choose the we drop option from the Action list next to the registered CRN and click on Submit Changes. 1 1

12 Course is now drooped and you can add another course (if needed). To add another course / write the CRN in the worksheet and Submit Changes. 1 1

14 2- Lookup classes to register: To search for classes, you can click on Class Search at any time. Choose at least on subject and click Course Search. 1 1

15 You can choose multiple subjects by holding down the CTRL key while clicking on your selections. You can use the SHIFT button to choose all subjects. 17 Only the subject is mandatory, all other options are optional, you can use any of them to narrow your search results. You can choose multiple subjects by holding down the CTRL key while clicking on your selections. You can use the SHIFT Key to choose all subjects. Choose your campus to show offered CRNs at your campus only. You can use the (% Wildcard character) to search the course number or title of the course, Example1: choose the Subject Accounting and enter 1% in the Course Number. 1 1

18 Will return all accounting CRNs starts with 1 : (ACC 1003, ACC 1103 and so on) Example2: choose the Subject Accounting and enter %Financial% in the Course Number. 1 1

19 Will return any accounting CRN that has Financial in the title. You can choose all instructors, one or more instructors. Please note the instructor name will appear as follows: Family name, first and other names. Example: John Smith will appear as Smith, John. Based on your search criteria, CRNs will appear: 1 1

20 Search Results and Registration: Either if you use the simple or the advanced search, CRNs meet your search criteria will appear as below: Click on View Sections to see the results and available sections: 2 2

24 You can choose the CRN/CRNs you want to register by clicking the checkbox next to the CRN. To register the chosen CRN, you have two options: o Click on Register button to register directly. o Or, Click on Add To Worksheet button to do the final check / add more CRN before registration. 2 2

25 Click on Submit Changes to register the CRNs appears in the worksheet. If no registration errors (See list of the registration errors in the appendix below) occurs, Banner will show you the registered CRNs successfully. 2 2

27 Confirm Your Registration: You ll be asked to confirm your registration once the term started, to check if you pass the pre- requisites of the registered courses. If you do not confirm your registration at the beginning of the term, your registration will be cancelled automatically. To Confirm your registration, please follow the steps below: 1- Login to the portal 2- Access the register Online / Confirm registration link 3- Choose the term ( Summer I 2017) for example: 4- You will be prompted to enter the alternative pin provided by your advisor. 5- Enter the 6 digits pin and click on submit. 6- Your early registered CRNs will appear. 2 2

28 7- To confirm your registration, please choose Web Conformed from the Action drop down menu and Submit Changes. 2 2

30 8- If decide to drop the CRN, you can choose Web Drop from the Action Menu and Submit Changes. 9- To add more CRNs, follow the procedure of add courses above. 10- Once the grades are announced, If you fail the pre- requisite currently registered, and wanted to confirm your registration in a CRN that requires this pre- requisite, you will get and error and you have to drop the CRN. 3 3

31 11- If you decide to repeat the failed course, you can add CRN / search for CRNs and register. 3 3

32 Registration Errors: a- Campus Restriction: You cannot register any CRN outside your Campus. b- You are trying to register on the same course twice. Please remove one of the courses. Section (CRN) This error occurs when you try to register a section (CRN) of a course already registered. You can drop the mentioned CRN in the message in case you want to register the other one. 3 3

33 c- Duplicate CRN : Student tried to register same CRN twice. d- Study Plan Restrictions: You can't register a course outside your study plan e- Student Workload Exceeds Max. Hours: If student tried to register more credit hours, which exceeds the student Workload in a semester: 3 3

34 f- Closed Section: This section is full, there are no seats left. Please choose another section that has seats available. g- Time Conflict: Two or more of the CRNs have conflicting meeting times, Banner will till you the registered CRN which have the same time of the new CRN you are trying to Add. h- Pre Req or TEST SCORE ERROR : Student is registering a CRN while not passing its pre-requisite. Pre-requisite can be a course or a test score. 3 3
