11 Recruitment and Retention at Health Centers Three strategies to strengthen recruitment and retention utilizing your relationship with the NHSC: 1. Participate in NHSC Virtual Job Fairs in order to actively recruit for open vacancies 2. Inform your site s about retention strategies utilizing data from the 2013 NHSC Clinician Survey 3. Prepare for the upcoming launch of the new shortage designation system 21 NHSC Virtual Job Fairs nhsc.hrsa.gov/corpsexperience/virtualjobfair Provide NHSC-approved sites with the opportunity to promote their job openings and "virtually recruit" to a targeted audience of primary care job seekers Each site has approximately 15 minutes in a virtual room to discuss their site, community they serve, and positions available, as well as interact with clinicians seeking job opportunities 22 11

12 NHSC Virtual Job Fairs nhsc.hrsa.gov/corpsexperience/virtualjobfair After the Job Fair, each site s information, job openings, and contact information is provided to the participants NHSC Virtual Job Fairs planned for the Fall of 2014 include two specifically designed to assist NHSC Scholars with placement Information, including how to register as a site presenter, will be posted on the NHSC Virtual Job Fair website 23 Retention Strategies 2013 NHSC Clinician Survey Short term retention rate at 85% in 2013; up from 76% in % who fulfilled their NHSC service commitment in FY 2012 and FY 2013 (an estimated 4,500 NHSC Alumni), remained in underserved communities/hpsas 61% at same NHSC site 16% within shortage designation 8% at another NHSC site 24 12

Goals of the new system are to provide: Increased predictability of system and outputs Transparency and utility of processes and data Enhanced external facing functionality Reduction of paper Defined schedules and maximized resource time Articulated, standardized and refined policies and procedures 26 13
