Performance Performance against the 4 hour standard was at 85.5% for May Type 1 attendances (A&E patients only) increased by 11.4% Paediatrics went up by 16.6%. Increases in the numbers of over 65 and over 80 year olds attending the department

Performance The continued growth in Ambulatory Care is having a positive impact in the number of emergency admissions to the hospital. Overall emergency admissions are down by 9.5% Cancer - Overall performance remains strong placing us amongst top performers nationally No reported cases of Clostridium difficile infection in April or May

Safety Thermometer Data collected calculates harm-free care We have a target of achieving at least 95% harm free care (hospital and community acquired harms) We narrowly missed this target in April but have improved each month achieving the target in May and June. When looking just at new harms (hospital acquired), we have significantly exceeded the 95% harm free target for April, May and June. We performed better than the national average in all harms and new harms in April and May

Paediatric A&E New Children s A&E opened its doors yesterday Culmination of a huge team effort from across the Trust. Fantastic area - designed specifically with young patients and their families in mind providing a better patient experience. Expanded services to accommodate expected increase in activity following the closure of Paeds A&E at Ealing. Improvements include the expansion and modernisation of our Paeds A&E and addition of four-bedded Paediatric Assessment Unit (PAU). Also building a new extension to our Children s Peter Pan ward

Inpatient Survey No questions where the Trust scored better than the majority of other Trusts. The Trust scored 'about the same' in 48 questions. 15 questions where the Trust scored 'worse' than the majority of other Trusts Immediate key priorities Improving information to patients on discharge regarding danger signals to watch for after leaving hospital and medication side effects Improving support to patients at meal times Reinforce the importance of pain management Good improvement in many of the leaving hospital questions - reassuring as increased focus and work underway around this area

Partnership Working Working in tandem with other care providers - can lead to benefits for both patients and staff Some parts of the Trust already working successfully in partnership with others with benefits already being realised Provides opportunity to deliver more efficient and streamlined way of working Helping us to tackle the significant challenges ahead.

Partnership Working Hillingdon s Whole Systems Integrated Care project (WSIC) - new care model targeted at over 65 year-olds with complex health needs Hillingdon s Accountable Care Partnership (ACP) - another emerging collaboration, and a key enabler to achieve whole systems integration Most all-encompassing form of partnership working - Sustainability Transformation Plan (STP) which stems from our place based planning. This will help to ensure that health and care services are planned by focusing on the needs of a specific place (or local population).

Physician Associates Four Physician Associates appointed in the division of Medicine Trained in the medical model and can assess, manage and treat patients of all ages with a variety of acute undifferentiated and chronic conditions. Will always work under the supervision of a designated doctor or with appropriate support New recruits are part of the National Physician Associate Expansion Programme (NPAEP).

EU Staff Outcome of EU referendum was big news for whole country We greatly value the work of our EU staff. The Trust employs around 260 staff from neighbouring EU countries as doctors, nurses and some in nonclinical roles Recently recruited staff from both Italy and Spain who have quickly become part of the Hillingdon family.
