The responsibilities of a registrar are many including running the various clinics: neonatal, well baby, chest, gastroenterology, neurology, and being responsible for the care of admitted patients, in the wards, ICU and the nursery. Weekly clinical meetings. Teaching PALS/EPLS. My additional responsibility as the Senior Registrar from August 2006 was to make sure that the paediatric casualty ran smoothly (including making the duty rota), in addition to overseeing the smooth operation of the paediatric ward and the specialty clinics. In September 2007, I was promoted to Assistant Clinical Services Provider whose responsibility was to ensure the smooth running of the day to day activities of the Department of Paediatrics in general, involving more of administrative and public relations. Now, my activities are limited because of the job and two growing children (12 year daughter and 8 year son), who take precedence over all else! Our trips are now restricted to either day or up to 1-2 nights stay out. My hobbies apart from travelling are reading and cooking. I neither smoke nor take alcohol. I have not had any formal computer lessons but I know my way around in Microsoft office applications. I am a non-practising Sikh by religion. Career Intentions To become an exceptionally good general Paediatrician. Eventually do either Neonatology or Neurology as a subspecialty.
