2 Essential Elements in Palliative Care for BAND 5 Community Nurses and nurses working in nursing homes ONLY This is a three day course run by our Clinical Nurse Specialists covering: Common palliative symptoms Palliative care emergencies Concept of pain Management of pain Communication End of life symptoms and planning The course is only open to trained nurses working in the community. On applying a questionnaire will be sent to see of suitability to attend. 1/8/22 March Telford CNS s free McKinley Syringe Pump training for Beginners This is a hands-on course, its focus an introduction to the use of the T34 syringe driver for the novice. The session will cover all aspects of the T34 Syringe drivers use in practice. It is a practical hands-on competence based session. It will include all do s and don ts and an overview of appropriate drugs use will also be a part of the session. 5 March Shrewsbury Garry Kirlew Verification of Death training This session is for trained and untrained staff, who verify death as part of their role. The training applies to ward, the community and nursing homes. It will include local policy and demonstration of the practical skills necessary. 3 attained. Mouth & Oral Care The mouth and its care is vital, through it we taste, speak and even kiss. So in Palliative and End of life care the MOUTH CARE is important. It assumes you have previously attended a beginner s session and/or have used the T34 syringe driver. It will include an overview of its use, setting up and trouble shooting in the use of the T34 Syringe pump. 12 Heart Failure Over half a million people in the UK live with heart failure, and per cent of those diagnosed with heart failure die within one year. This session aims to explain what heart failure is and explore some of the supportive and palliative care needs patients with a diagnosis of heart failure have.
