1 2 nd THE POWER OF QUALITY IMPROVEMENT RYAN WHITE PART A PROVIDERS WORK TO END THE EPIDEMIC Tuesday, November 17, 2015 Rosenthal Pavilion, 10 th Floor Kimmel Center New York University
2 2 THE POWER OF QUALITY IMPROVEMENT Part A Providers Work to End the Epidemic At this second Part A quality conference, the stated theme, Part A Providers Work to End the Epidemic focuses on applying the strategies and methods of quality management to end the HIV epidemic in New York. Many providers have framed their projects within this context. Providers will be presenting their improvement work, demonstrating ongoing partnerships with consumers, and will share lessons learned in their workshop presentations and posters. This conference was structured to present distinctive examples of quality management from Part A services to provide us all with the opportunity to learn from each other. There are projects that address reassessments-a marker of retention in care; improving the ways patients experience services; reviewing collaborative systems within organizations as well as between organizations; and identifying ways supportive services can assist patients in achieving viral load suppression. That we were able to host a second conference in 2015 demonstrates the active nature of quality management efforts in Part A programs. As the intent of this conference is to bring together colleagues to share improvement work through the poster and workshop presentations, we are providing this program with contact information and the titles of the projects because this work impacts us all. The projects presented at this conference demonstrate the breadth of quality activity in the New York EMA. This year s projects, from over 30 Part A providers, represent programs located in each borough and Tricounty. As the Part A program has matured over time, it has become a truly comprehensive quality program, and the projects presented here attest to the success that has been achieved in all kinds of organizations, large and small, hospitals, CBOs, advocacy organizations. All of them share a commitment to addressing the goal of using quality management to end the epidemic, by improving services for every patient. This conference represents a beginning only, and we urge you to reach out to your colleagues, and to share information as we all strive to harness the power of quality improvement in Part A programs, both to end the epidemic in New York and to improve individual patient outcomes.
