3 Regulatory and Compliance The Regulatory and Compliance webinars are led by Chris Apgar, CISSP, CEO and president of Apgar & Associates. Mr. Apgar is a nationally recognized information security, privacy and HIPAA expert. Omnibus Rule: Now what? February 19, 2014; 11:00 am 12:00 pm Early Bird Price: $99 OMA Member/Staff: $129 Sept. 23 has come and gone, and the Office of Civil Rights has promised expanded enforcement and that OCR audits will re-commence very soon. Covered entities may not have accomplished all of the necessary compliance tasks by the September deadline, but it s not too late to act. Exercising due diligence, documenting compliance progress and timely mitigation are key to avoiding OCR findings of willful neglect in the event of an investigation or audit. This webinar will focus on what your practice should do now to stay out of the OCR s crosshairs. What s changed? Compliance mitigation planning overview What comes first and what comes next? Mitigation tracking tips Physicians, PAs, practice administrators, privacy officers, security officers, marketing and communications staff, HIM directors/managers, HIT professionals, general counsel Mobile Devices, BYOD and Managing Your Risks April 9, 2014; 11:00 am 12:00 pm Early Bird Price: $99 OMA Member/Staff: $129 One of the most significant risks to practices today is the proliferation of mobile devices used for patient care and business activities. Headlines abound about breaches of PHI because of the loss of unencrypted mobile devices and portable media. Webinar participants will walk away with timely information and tools needed to manage mobile device and bring your own device (BYOD) risks while maximizing the benefits associated with those mobile devices. Overview: Use of mobile devices in health care What are the risks? HIPAA and beyond How to manage your mobile devices and BYOD program and limit risk Helpful tools, BYOD acknowledgement form, device tracking and limiting storage of PHI A word about the OCR and breach investigations Physicians, PAs, practice administrators, security officers, HIT professionals, practice IT vendor representatives Social Media: What are your employees actually posting? April 22, 2014; 11:00 am 12:00 pm Early Bird Price: $99 OMA Member/Staff: $129 Social media is commonly used by medical practices to educate patients, communicate with colleagues and track what is happening in the world of health care. However, Facebook, LinkedIn, Twitter and other social media sites may lead to breaches of patient information if your employees are careless, or if a structured social media program has not been implemented. Webinar participants will gain an understanding of the broad reach of social media and the tools to educate staff in order to avoid breaches of PHI related to social media postings. 3

4 Regulatory and Compliance Social Media Overview: What are the common tools used by practices and health care professionals? Legal implications related to improper postings Overview of social media program development Hands-on review of social media policy and workforce acknowledgement templates Training tools to significantly reduce your risk Physicians, PAs, practice administrators, privacy officers, security officers, general counsel, marketing and communications staff, patient advocates and educators Security Incident Response: Spend a little now, save a lot later May 6, 2014; 11:00 am 12:00 pm Early Bird Price: $99 OMA Member/Staff: $129 Security incidents, such as a virus infecting EHRs and breaches of unsecure PHI, can be very expensive. The value of medical records on the black market is rising. Many practices have not yet developed and implemented a formal incident response plan, which is a HIPAA Security Rule requirement. Webinar participants will receive the tools needed to develop and implement formal incident response plans that, for a minimal investment, can help practices avoid significant expenses in the long run. Overview of security incident response, breach investigation and notification requirements Review of breach notification determination and the four factor risk assessment Walk-through of a sample incident response plan Staffing implications Templates and tools Physicians, PAs, practice administrators, privacy officers, security officers, general counsel CDL-Certified Medical Examiner Course Online Training from the Convenience of Your Home or Office Approved for 9.5 AMA PRA Category 1 Credits OMA Member Non-Member Fee with CME: $435 $585 Fee without CME: $385 $535 The Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration has established the National Registry of Certified Medical Examiners.
