1 Job Center of Wisconsin September 25, 2009 JobCenterOfWisconsin.com (JCW) Release There are several enhancements in JobCenterofWisconsin.com, and one fix in JobNet Business. JobCenterOfWisconsin.com Enhancements The following enhancements will be implemented in JobCenterofWisconsin.com on Friday evening starting at 4:30 p.m. Deployments typically take 2-3 hours, so JobNet Business-Staff and JobCenterOfWisconsin.com should be available again sometime later that evening. The 'Need help?' links have been updated with explanatory text. 1. Three significant enhancements have been made to the Candidate Search function for employers. All changes were made at the request of employers. We strongly suggest that next week, staff login to the JCW Education environment as an employer and try these features so you can (1) explain them to employers, and (2) understand how the information included by a job seeker on her resume/work application impacts searches conducted by employers. JobNet Business Education and JCW Education are not available today in preparation for tonight's deployment. a. Employers can choose whether to include candidates who are willing to relocate. Definitions of 'All', 'Yes', and 'No' plus examples of each are shown on pages 2-5 of this announcement. 1
2 Selecting 'Yes' will only return candidates who are willing to relocate and match the employer's other search criteria. The Candidate Profiles that are returned will include 'Willing to Relocate' in the header. 2
3 Selecting 'No' will only return candidates who are not willing to relocate and match the employer's other search criteria. The Candidate Profiles that are returned will not include 'Willing to Relocate' in the header. 3
4 Selecting 'All' will return all candidates who match the search criteria, regardless of whether they are willing to relocate, and regardless of whether they answered the 'Are you willing to relocate?' question. (It is not a required question.) The Candidate Profiles that are returned will include those candidates who are willing to relocate (75), those who are not (816, 823), and those who did not answer the question (72, 73, 418). 4
5 b. Employers can search for candidates by the Unique Identifier. Employers see the candidate's Unique Identifier in the Search Results. Job seekers see their Unique Identifier(s) on the Job Seeker Profile. 5
6 A typical scenario where an employer would need to search for a candidate by Unique Identifier is when the employer conducted a Candidate Search several weeks ago, and now wants to contact or re-contact certain candidates. To search by Unique Identifier, the employer enters the Unique Identifier in the Keyword field and clicks on the Search Candidates button. If the Candidate Profile is still active, it will be displayed and the employer can use the feature to contact the job seeker. 6
7 If the employer enters a Unique Identifier for a Candidate Profile that is no longer active, the following message will be displayed: c. A Saved Search or My Favorite Searches function for employers has been added. Employers can now set up and save favorite searches for candidates. The feature works similarly to the Saved Search for jobs that job seekers have been using for years. The Saved Search or My Favorite Searches function saves the search criteria, not the search results. A Saved Search allows the employer to run the search at any time using the same search criteria to get the most current results. The employer can also have new candidates that match her search criteria ed to her. 'My Favorite Searches' has been added to the Employer Tools menu and the Employer homepage. 'Find a Worker' has been changed to 'Candidate Search' on the Employer Tools menu and the Employer homepage. 7
8 If the employer clicks on My Favorite Searches and has not yet saved a search, she will see the following: To set up a saved search, the employer selects the search criteria she wants and clicks on the Search Candidates button. If the results are useful, she can save the search criteria by clicking on the Save Search button at the bottom of the screen. If the search results aren't satisfactory, the employer can tweak her search criteria and click on the Search Candidates button again. When the results are satisfactory, she can save her search by clicking on the Save Search button. 8
9 The employer will see the Save Candidate Search screen. The employer enters the name of the search in the My Search Name field, and chooses 'Yes' or 'No' to indicate if she would like to be notified about new candidates matching her criteria. Click on the Save button to save the search. The batch job to identify new, matching candidates is run daily. An employer may not receive an on a daily basis, however. An will only be sent to the employer when a new or updated Candidate Profile matching the employer's search criteria is identified. The text of the message to employers is shown below. The name of the link is the name of the employer's Saved Search. The Resume ID is the unique identifier for the new or updated Candidate Profile. When the employer clicks on the link in the , she will be taken to the JobCenterofWisconsin.com website and prompted to login. After logging in, the employer will see the Search Results page listing all candidates that match the employer's search criteria. The employer can quickly scan through the Search Results to identify 739 and review the Candidate Profile. The employer's search criteria are displayed above the Search Results. 9
10 The My Favorite Candidate Searches screen allows the employer to run a saved search at any time by clicking on the Run Search button. Saved searches can also be edited and deleted. 10
11 2. A link to new jobs in the last day has been added to the Job Seeker homepage. The change was made at the request of job seekers who want to be able to see all new jobs, regardless of where the job is, and regardless of what type of job it is. The link takes the job seeker to a list of all jobs added from all sources. Jobs that are still on the 24-hour veterans' priority hold are not included in this count. When a job seeker clicks on the link, he will see a list of the new jobs added within the last day from all sources. 11
12 3. A new piece of information displayed on the Job Search Results page is the number of jobs (job orders) returned during a Job Search, and the number of openings. A job order may have more than one opening. 4. This question in the Veterans' portion of the Job Center of Wisconsin registration process: Has been replaced with this question: If the customer answers 'No' to the above question, he will go to this screen: If the customer answers 'Yes' to the question, he will go to this screen: 12
13 5. Job seekers who are in ASSET and do not have a Job Center of Wisconsin registration will now see an additional question when they do register. The question appears after the job seeker has entered his Social Security number on the first screen, and his date of birth and gender on the second screen. When the job seeker is 'recognized', the following question appears, as another validator. If the wrong Last Name is entered, the job seeker will see the following: If no Last Name is entered, the job seeker will see the following: If the correct Last Name is entered, the job seeker will continue with the registration process. 13
14 JobNet Business Fix 6. A bug in the Preview function of JobNet Business has been fixed. Staff attempting to send an Preview to multiple addresses got a System Error message. The bug has been fixed in JobNet Business (it has and does continue to work just fine for employers using JobCenterofWisconsin.com). addresses must be separated by a semi-colon, and there must not be any spaces between the address and the semi-colon. ======================== This message has been posted to the website ( that holds the Job Center of Wisconsin announcements.
