There are two categories of award as follows: Seedcorn funding Awards made under this category could fund new initiatives and test out innovative approaches designed to reduce alcohol-related harm. Awards could also be used to fund existing smaller scale projects that are seeking to expand or develop their services. You must tell them how you plan to evaluate your project if seeking an award under this category. Please note that whilst you can apply for up to 25,000 under this strand, an award of this level would only be granted in exceptional circumstances. In practice, we would expect to make awards in the region of 10,000 for new or innovative projects. Growth and Development Awards made under this category could fund projects that are seeking to consolidate and build on emerging, successful practice in relation to the reduction of alcoholrelated harm. You must be able to provide evidence of any evaluation of your work to date. Page 3 of 6

4 We will look for evidence that the project is needed and that the approach taken has proven to be effective. All potential applicants to the Fund should ensure that they read the Fund profile prior to making an application to the Fund as this contains further details on the types of organisations, activities and costs that could be supported through the programme. Applicants should also ensure that they submit the appropriate supporting documentation with their application as not doing so could lead to delays in the processing of your application. We would greatly appreciate it if you could pass this information on to other colleagues and organisations to let them know that the Fund has now re-opened. For further details about the Fund, including the fund profile and guidance notes, and to access the online application form please see their website. The deadline for receipt of applications will be 30 June Link: HLF Parks for People This scheme helps to conserve the heritage that makes both historic parks and cemeteries special, and it gives local people a say in how they are managed in the future. 5 FUNDING APPLICATIONS WITH NO CLOSING DATES Armed Forces Covenant Fund: Local Grants Scheme (UK) This scheme is currently accepting applications for grants of up to 20,000 for projects in the UK that support the armed forces community and meet MoD priorities. The funding is for projects that respond to the local needs of the Armed Forces Community and improve recognition of the Armed Forces Covenant, and: Help integrate Armed Forces and civilian communities across the UK; and/or Deliver valuable local services to the armed forces community. The grants will pay for most of the things needed for the project whether it is people s time, buying or hiring equipment, or minor improvements to land or buildings. This is not a general fund for organisations to support their core activities simply by adding members of the armed forces community to their beneficiary group in order to apply for funding. Applications will be accepted throughout 2017 and will be considered four times over the next 12 months. There are no published deadlines. Link: The Andy Fanshaw Memorial Trust This scheme exists to fund projects that allow disadvantaged young people in the UK to take up opportunities to develop an exciting interest in the great outdoors. The trust funds projects that allow disadvantaged young people to take up opportunities to further develop an existing interest in the great outdoors. No minimum and maximum levels of support are outlined by the trust; instead, each project will be judged and awarded on merit. Generally, the trust funds organisations such as schools and youth groups in the UK, rather than individuals, but the trust does occasionally fund an individual the committee feels would benefit from support, if they have a referee. Funding is available for projects that allow disadvantaged young people to take up opportunities to further develop their interest in the great outdoors. Eligible outdoor activities include walking, climbing, cycling, kayaking, sailing, horse riding and residential courses at outdoor centres. Applications should be made via if possible, but written applications are acceptable. Applications should include the following: Who is applying? What does the project propose to do, and where? Who will benefit? Why do they deserve the trust s support? What fund raising has been done or is planned? What is the overall budget? How much is being applied for? What are the plans for supporting the individual or group to continue this type of activity and further develop their skills or interest? What has been done before? If an individual is applying for a grant, a reference should be obtained from a teacher or care-worker. Applications may be submitted at anytime. Link: Page 5 of 6
