A Take Action Project offers a sustainable solution to a community issue or problem while addressing the root cause of the issue. Girls can develop sustainable Take Action Projects by educating or informing others in the community about their project and/or by partnering with local organizations or schools to ensure the project lasts after the girl s involvement ends. Upon completion of her project, the girl will have utilized all of the fifteen outcomes of the Girl Scout Leadership Experience. Girls feel connected to their community, locally and globally. Girls develop positive values. Girls gain practical life skills. Girls are resourceful problem solvers. Girls advocate for themselves and others, locally and globally. Girls promote cooperation and team building. Girls can resolve conflicts. Girls educate and inspire others to act. Girls feel empowered to make a difference in the world. Girls advance diversity in a multicultural world. You have been asked to be a project advisor because you have the experience and expertise that a girl completing a Take Action Project needs in order to be successful. We are asking that you please ensure that she is completing a project that 1) makes a lasting difference in the local community, region, and beyond 2) includes provisions to be sustainability, 3) identifies national and global links to the girl s selected issue and 4) inspires others. You are her advocate and mentor during this process. You provide her the guidance needed to complete a project that helps change an issue in your field and hers.
