2 Mission To promote individual and workplace sustainable behavior at Colgate University in a fun and competitive way by providing a green office rating system, online resources, and how-toguides.

3 Program Goals: Why Participate? Colgate s Green Office Program is a great way to raise awareness around issues of sustainability in the workplace. The Program is a fun and competitive way for Colgate to reduce it s greenhouse gas emissions and ecological footprint. The Program proposes real solutions to everyday challenges. The Program provides online support, resources, and tools to aid Colgate employees in their pursuit to be more sustainable The Program illustrates that small personal actions can result in big outcomes. Upon completion of the program, your office will be officially recognized as a Certified Green Office.

4 HOW DOES THE PROGRAM WORK?

5 How does it work? 6 Steps to Green Office Certification: Define Office Area Designate Eco-Rep Register Team Implement Green Practices Complete Online Checklist Sustainability Coordinator Your Green Office Certification is good for two years.

6 STEP 1. Define your office area. Your Office Area can be: any shared space where you have frequent interaction with colleagues. all offices that are in close physical proximity to yours. all offices and employees in your building or floor. How does it work?

7 STEP 2. Designate an Eco-Rep for your office area. How does it work? The Eco-Rep is the go-toperson and team captain who champions the effort in your office area.

8 The Role of the Eco-Rep: The Eco-Rep identifies the people in your office area and encourages them to join Colgate s Green Office Program*. It is the responsibility of the Eco-Rep to recruit, introduce employees to the program, and help them participate in the program. The Eco-Rep collaborates with team members to implement individual and office area green practices. Click here to see an example checklist of green practices. TIP: To start, the Eco-Rep may want to send an invite letter (click here for example letter) and/or call an informal lunch meeting to introduce coworkers to the program. *You need at least three employees (besides the Eco-Rep) to qualify for Green Office certification.

9 STEP 3. The Eco-Rep officially registers your office area by filling out your online registration form. See link below. The Sustainability Office will welcome you to the program and send you a link to our online checklist that highlights green office practices. How does it work?

10 How does it work? NEED TO KNOW: Once registered, your team has 3-months to complete the Green Office Checklist.

11 STEP 4. Your Green Office Team implements green practices. How does it work? Individual team members must implement green practices to accumulate points for your team.

12 STEP 5. Your Eco-Rep completes the online checklist on behalf of your team. How does it work? Upon completion of the Green Office checklist, your team will receive a Green Office Rating.

13 Green Rating Scoring System*: 65-74pts = Oak Leaf One Certified Green Office! Congratulations! 75-84pts = Oak Leaf Two Certified Green Office! Most impressive! 85-94pts = Oak Leaf Three Certified Green Office! Stupendous team work and dedication! pts = Oak Leaf Four Certified Green Office! Incredible accomplishment true planetary heroes! * Green Office Certification does not require a formal audit, although certification status is subject to periodic review.

14 How does it work? Successful teams will receive an official Green Office Plaque celebrating their accomplishment and will be acknowledged on the campus sustainability website and in other publications.

15 How does it work? STEP 6. your Sustainability Coordinator, John Pumilio once you have completed the checklist of green office practices. Your Green Office Certification is good for two years.
