Introduction SCI travel bursaries: SCI contributes towards the development of PhD students and postdoctoral researchers careers by helping them to broaden their vision and share cutting-edge knowledge at international conferences or laboratory visits. In this way, SCI helps young scientists learn from, and network with, top scientists from around the world. Awards of up to 100 will be made, on a competitive basis, to assist with travel, subsistence or conference registration fees. Eligibility: Applications for travel bursaries are invited from scientists in the early stages of their career, typically this will be up to 10 years after completion of first degree, or 10 years after starting a first position in business, science or engineering. Preference will normally be given to those wishing to travel outside their country of residence, especially if they wish to work in a laboratory abroad. Please note: funding will not be given for visits which are part of the normal course of a co-sponsored PhD (e.g. visiting the partner site) applications will not be considered from those who have previously received SCI travel bursary funding applicants must be presenting a paper/poster if attending a conference applications will only be considered from SCI student or standard members - SCI travel bursaries are not available to SCI e-members or non-members. Applications submitted in any other way will not be valid. All applications must be accompanied by a reference letter which must be submitted to awards@soci.org by the closing date. For successful candidates, payment of the Award will be made only on receipt of a report following your attendance at the conference or visit. Receipts to support your claim will also be required. There are two deadlines: 31 March (for travel between 1 July and 31 December) 31 October (for travel between 1 January and 30 June). Bursary recipients are selected shortly after the closing dates, and applicants will be notified of the results within two months of the closing date.
