Three-year awards will develop research further, and involve a more extensive programme of collaboration and exchange. Applicants must be based in, or travelling to, the UK or the Republic of Ireland or a low-to-middle-income country. The normal maximum that can be applied for is 5,000. If you intend to use the grant to hold an international meeting, or attract international speakers, up to 10,000 may be requested. Awards can provide a contribution towards research expenses, such as transport, accommodation, subsistence and photocopying costs. They may include the costs of overseas visits. Modest personal support or salary expenses may also be requested but must be carefully justified. Support may not include university fees. Costs for conferences and meetings may include the travel

3 and accommodation of keynote speakers, catering, conference pack publication and any reasonably justified associated expenses. The Je-S Helpdesk will then register the International CoInvestigator, allowing the PI to add them to the proposal. In such collaborations, the arts and/or humanities element of the project should lead the research questions, methods, etc. It may involve researchers collaborating with researchers overseas
