LOCATION The site selected for the new Innovation Center was carefully considered, and an excellent candidate for partnership with the City of Rapid City. IDEAL SITE WHY THIS LOCATION?

39 LOCATION The site selected for the new Innovation Center was carefully considered, and an excellent candidate for partnership with the City of Rapid City. IDEAL SITE WHY THIS LOCATION? IDEAL SITE This area provides: Adequate size to accommodate phased growth. Excellent vicinity to SDSMT and Downtown. Walkable, Pedestrian Oriented Space that sets precedent for Innovation District as Pilot Project. Near other amenities, housing and businesses that encourage Live, Work, Play lifestyle. IINNOVATION CENTER BENEFITS The area(s) most supported for the location of the Innovation Center included several sites located between South Dakota School of Mines and Technology and Rapid City s Downtown. Factors such as adjacency, critical mass, and walkability were considered among others. IDEAL LOCATION Rapid City s Downtown Master Plan was highly considered in the process, in particular, the Innovation District region. A new ordinance is considered to establish zoning criteria in that district that suits the Innovation Center very well. The district and ordinance would benefit from a Pilot Project; The Innovation Center is a perfect fit.
