2 Introduction Submission Guidelines for GPM Project Awards 2015 Green Project Management (GPM ) has established the Sustainability Awards program to honor and showcase the achievement and impact of individuals and projects in the advancement of sustainable development thru the implementaaon of sustainable (green) project management pracaces. The program represents the achievement in sustainability across all conanents of the globe and through a network of training partners encompassing approximately 130 countries. Each year, GPM bestows awards across a number of categories including: Project of the Year is bestowed upon a project manager or organizaaon that exemplifies the impact and relevance between sustainability and project success. Individual Sustainability Award for an individual for their efforts in advancing sustainability in project management Research Award supporang the implementaaon or advancement of sustainable project management Student Award/ Fundamentals Award for a student enrolled in a teraary (eg University or equivalent) Masters level course which incorporates Sustainable Project Management or Sustainability PracAces or a GPM PracAAoner Level Course. All entries judged against the published criteria by a team of industry specialists and peers who will be independent of all submissions. Judges decisions shall be final and no correspondence shall be entered into. Submissions will be assessed on the submized material ONLY and in accordance with these Submission Guidelines. Logos and pictures are expected as supporang material but will not be formally assessed. All entries must demonstrate the achievement of sustainability and shall be measured against such guidelines as - the United NaAons Global Compact s ten principles (ie relaang to aspects of people, planet, and profits), realizaaon of the Millennium Development Goals and the use of the PRiSM methodology and P5 standard. 1.1 Eligibility A winning project will be one that demonstrates, through narraaves and documentary evidence, excellence and/or innovaaon in the applicaaon of sustainable project management pracaces and procedures, within projects or programs of any size or value, from either the public or private sector anywhere in the world. The project must have an approved project plan and budget. The project must be recently completed or be a recently (generally within 18 months of submission closing date) completed discrete phase of a larger program or project. Acceptance of the project, or discrete phase, by the client/ owner prior to submission is mandatory. Submissions must address the impact of sustainable project management in delivering the project outcomes, based upon the PRISM methodology and P5 standard.
3 1.2 Project of the Year - Categories At the sole discreaon of the Judging Panel, Project of the Year Awards maybe bestowed in industry based sector categories, such as but not limited to: Community Service and/or Development InternaAonally Funded Humanitarian Aid Projects (eg NGO s, Uni- Bilateral Lending Agencies) ConstrucAon, and Engineering Infrastructure projects TelecommunicaAons / InformaAon Technology OrganizaAonal Change Management Mining, and Energy Past Recipients 2015 Gold Recipient- Administradora Comercial Paseo Fase 1, S.A. - Paseo Cayala Program, Guatemala - Gold 2015 MAHAK- the Society to Support Children Suffering from Cancer, Iran, - Two Year OperaAonal Developmental Project - Silver South Australian Water CorporaAon, Australia, The Adelaide DesalinaAon Plant project, Sarfraz Malik and China Mobile, Pakistan - Renewable Energy ApplicaAon to Mobile Data Networks Mark Reeson, United Kingdom - Early Hazard Removal of Nuclear Power, Format and Content of the Submission Submissions must be formazed in Arial 12 point font, single spaced in a Microsoh Word compaable document or pdf file. Submissions must address each selecaon criteria separately. For all submissions, indicaave page limits are flexible; however total content is not to exceed a total of 35 A4 pages. Submissions MUST not include promoaonal, novelty or other material / items not related to or supporang the actual submission.
4 Submissions must include the wrizen consent of the project s owner/client to the submission of the project in the awards, together with an overview of the client/sponsor s level of saasfacaon of the project outcomes (including any aspects of achieving corporate benefits outcomes) and the standard of project management undertaken. The wrizen consent must be bound into the submission. Consent is also required for the use of project informaaon, photographs, company logos and the like. Non- conforming submissions may be rejected. Note: your evidence is scored during judging and therefore the scoring will be commensurate with the level of appropriate supporang evidence submized. The submission should address the following four secaons. Section 1 General Information In this secaon of the submission, the following informaaon must be submized: Value of project Name of Company Name of Project LocaAon of project i.e. city, State or Territory and country Name and contact details of owner/client Names of key stakeholders Name of sustainable project team contact Name and contact details of the project owner/client representaave Name and contact details of the Submission Manager ConfirmaAon that consent to use the project has been received from the client/owner ConfirmaAon that consent to use photographs, company logos and the like has been received ConfirmaAon that the project has an approved plan and budget ConfirmaAon that the project/phase has been accepted by the client/owner Section 2. Summary of the Project All submissions must provide a summary of not more than 100 words of the project, its outcomes, level of complexity and the reasons or purpose of the project. This summary may be used in any audio- visual presentaaon compiled by GPM for the Awards program. NOTE: Summaries may be amended at the sole discreaon of GPM to suit the technical requirements of any awards program markeang presentaaons. Section 3. Outline of the Project In this secaon provide an outline of the project (indicaavely three pages), to state the purpose and objecaves of the project, the project management methodology applied, its level of complexity,
5 principles of sustainability incorporated and any other relevant informaaon. Details must also be provided of the success of the project by comparing the planned sustainable corporate and project outcomes against achieved sustainable outcomes. Section 4. Outstanding Achievement and/or Innovation in applying Sustainable Project Management Best Practice Submissions should address three aspects in project management which should be individually addressed, demonstraang the inclusion of sustainable project management pracaces in each aspect (indicaavely 2 pages on each item) : PM Competency / Knowledge Areas (a total of at least 4 areas) Issues or Challenges (a total of at least 2 issues) Lesson Learned / InnovaAon (a total of at least 2 items) PART 2: AWARDS FOR INDIVIDUAL SUSTAINABLE PROJECT MANAGERS 2.1 Eligibility Any Sustainable program/project director, or project manager is eligible to enter, or be entered in, the awards. A winning individual will be one who demonstrates, through narraaves and documentary evidence, excellence and/or innovaaon in sustainable project management over a cumulaave period of not less than two years, with the projects undertaken may be of any size or value, from either the public or private sector and can be located anywhere in the world. The individual must be cerafied at least GPM- b level from GPM- Global and the demonstrated professional skills equivalent to IPMA Four- Level- CerAficaAon (e.g. levels A to D) or other recognized comparable Project Management CerAficaAon. 6 2.2 Submission details Where an individual makes his/her own submission, it must be endorsed by the individual s supervisor or by the client/owner. As a guideline, a successful green project manager would be one that: Advances sustainability in project management balance sustainable technical and management skills, juggling different views and perspecaves, corporate goals, backgrounds and personaliaes The Award will recognize the individual s demonstrated applicaaon of sustainable project management competences, no mazer the scale, number or type of projects referenced. It is the individual qualiaes exemplifying the pracace of Green Project Management that will be evaluated, not those of any project worked on. 2.3 Format and Content of the Submission Submissions must be formazed in Arial 12 point font single spaced in a Microsoh Word compaable document or pdf file. Submissions are to be bound and printed in colour. IndicaAve page limits are flexible; however total content is not to exceed 23 A4 pages. Submissions may refer to other projects undertaken by the individual, however, wrizen consent to the use of any project in the submission must be provided from the project client/owner. The wrizen consent and any endorsements or referee reports must be included in the submission. Consent is also required for the use of project informaaon, photographs, company logos and the like, used within the submission. Non- conforming submissions may be rejected. THE SUBMISSION SHOULD ADDRESS THE FOLLOWING FIVE SECTIONS: Section 1. General Information In this secaon of the submission, please include the following informaaon: Name and contact details of the individual. Name of Company/employer. Name and contact details of the individual s supervisor. Name and contact details of the project owner/client representaave. ConfirmaAon that consent to use the project(s) has been received from the client/owner
7 ConfirmaAon that consent to use photographs, company logos and the like has been received ConfirmaAon that the project(s) have an approved plan and budget. Section 2. A Summary of the Individual Provide a summary of not more than 100 words of the individual, including performance, project outcomes, and project responsibiliaes. This summary may be used in any audio- visual presentaaon compiled by GPM for the Awards program. NOTE: Summaries may be amended at the sole discreaon of GPM to suit the technical requirements of the awards or relevant markeang presentaaon. Section 3. Submissions must include: Curriculum Vitae Outline of the project content (scope) Performance NarraAves which reflect the management performance of the individual in achieving or exceeding desired project sustainability outcomes through the applicaaon of best pracace and the demonstraaon of outstanding achievement and innovaaon. Contextual and Technical Skills (a total of at least 2 skills) including the incorporaaon of sustainable project management methodology employed. Behavioral / Interpersonal Skills. (a total of at least 3 skills) including the incorporaaon of sustainable project management methodology employed. PART 3: Research Awards 3.1 Eligibility Any Research Project undertaken within the field of Sustainable Project Management or Sustainability PracAces is eligible to enter. A winning submission will be one who demonstrates, through narraaves and documentary evidence, excellence and/or innovaaon in researching sustainable project management undertaken within two years of the submission date. The research undertaken may be of any size or value, from either the public or private sector and can be located anywhere in the world. 3.2 Submission details format and content The Award will be evaluated on the details included in the submission and will be based on Evidence of the applicaaon of project management methodology applied to the research undertaking
8 Clarity and succinctness of processes used to manage the research and the research outcomes achieved PresentaAonal quality Evidence of industry relevance of sustainability research outcomes Submissions must include the wrizen consent of the research sponsor s to the submission of the research outcomes, together with an overview of the research sponsor s level of saasfacaon with the research outcomes and the standard of project management undertaken. The wrizen consent must be bound into the submission. Consent is also required for the use of research informaaon, photographs, research insatute logos and the like. Non- conforming submissions may be rejected. The submission should include the following informa:on: Title of Research Name of InsAtuAon where it is being conducted LocaAon of research i.e. city, and country Name and contact details of the Research Sponsor Names of key Stakeholders Name of Research Team contact ConfirmaAon that consent to use the research has been received from the sponsor ConfirmaAon that consent to use photographs, logos and the like has been received ConfirmaAon that the research has an approved plan and budget ConfirmaAon that the research has been accepted by the Sponsor. PART 4: Student Award (Fundamentals Award) 4.1 Eligibility Any Student enrolled in a teraary (eg University or equivalent) Masters level course which incorporates Sustainable Project Management or Sustainability PracAces or a GPM PracAAoner Level Course is eligible to enter. A winning submission will be one who demonstrates, through narraaves and documentary evidence, excellence and/or innovaaon in course assessments undertaken within two years of the submission date dealing with the pracaces of Sustainable Project Management. The assessment may be of any size or value, from anywhere in the world.

PresentaAonal quality Evidence of the course assessment being industry relevant Evidence from the Course co- ordinator of the assessment criteria, scope and overall status of the assessment within the course of the assessment being submized for this award. Submissions must include the wrizen consent of the University (eg course co- ordinator) to the submission of the assessment material, together with an overview of the course co- ordinator s level of saasfacaon with the students outcomes and the standard of project management undertaken. The wrizen consent must be bound into the submission. Consent is also required for the use of all assessment informaaon, photographs, university logos and the like. Non- conforming submissions may be rejected. The submission should include the following informaaon: Title of Assessment Name of University where it is being conducted LocaAon of University i.e. city, and country Name and contact details of the Course Co- ordinator Name of Student ConfirmaAon that consent to use the assessment has been received ConfirmaAon that consent to use photographs, logos and the like has been received ConfirmaAon that the assessment was a component of a recognized Masters course which incorporates Sustainable Project Management or Sustainability PracAces. Full details of the Masters course of which the submized work was a recognized component.
10 PART 5: General Conditions relating to all Submissions 5.1 General Submission Requirements Submissions need to be concise yet contain sufficient informaaon for the judging panel to adequately assess the merits of the entry. All entries must be submized in English language. All necessary clearances and permissions required for the release of all informaaon submized including any proprietary, confidenaal, technical or commercial informaaon must be obtained by the applicant, with no restricaons on the use of the submized informaaon in any promoaon of the awards program. All submissions become the property of GPM and are not returned to applicants. Documentary evidence is required to support and validate all claims made in the submission. Photographs and quotes from clients or managers substanaaang claims, or extracts from project documents may be used. 5.2 The Submission Process All entries for the InternaAonal Level awards are to be submized by close of business on 1 November 2015 to the GPM Awards Office listed on GPM website at: Late entries will NOT be considered. Entries must be submized in accordance with these guidelines. 5.3 Submission Material Submissions are to contain the following material: An electronic file copy of the complete submission in either CD or suitable format file (e.g. word or pdf file format) is to be submized, in following electronic format: For all Submissions a Word or PDF document containing the full submission. For Project submissions - a minimum of five and a maximum of 10 high resoluaon project related photographs in JPG format. For Individual submissions - a minimum of five and a maximum of 10 high resoluaon photographs in JPG format, including a head- and- shoulders photograph of the individual. For Student/Fundamentals Awards a minimum of two and a maximum of 4 high resoluaon photographs in JPG format, including a head- and- shoulders photograph of the Student. All digital photos/drawings are of high resoluaon quality (files of 1 MB+) and are submized as full color JPG files. Photos with capaon informaaon are preferred. They are to be numbered in the order they are to appear in the presentaaon.
11 Company Logos - Company logos are to be provided in EPS format or other similar format which is suitable for use in high resoluaon prinang and publishing process. Entrants must ensure that they have permission to use the company logo.
