1 American Kinesiotherapy Association 118 College Drive #5142 Hattiesburg, MS (800) QUARTERLY/ /YEAR END REPORT DATE: October 10, 2014 TO: American Kinesiotherapy Association (AKTA) Executive Board FROM: Past- President AKTA, Lori Shuart Fourth Quarter/Summary Report 2014 SUBJECT: Perform Advising Duties to the Organization in Past President Role, follow-up on previous established business of presidency, and act as an active member in any assigned committees to the organization. ACTION TO DATE: 1) Made contact with Clark Simpson, medical consultant to discuss providing options for fee for service model to deliver to the membership. 2) Made contact with Carl and Joanne Byron regarding reimbursement for Kinesiothera apists: Reproduced reimbursement packet now available on AKTA website for the membership. 3) Established AKTA mentorship program with committee. Program began May of 2014 with kickoff of monthly calls and established topics throughout the year. Hosted monthly calls, initiated conversational topics, and spoke to the mentees regarding the topic of documentation standards. 4) Facilitated relationship between Healthy Minds Healthy Bodies and the AKTA. Devised Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) to enable growth between the two organizations. 5) Act as a liaison between the AKTAA and the Veterans Administrationn (VA) by serving on national committees for the VA including the Physical Medicine and Rehabilitatio on Field Advisory Board and the Field Advisory Council for Kinesiothera apy. Currently serving as a VA subject matter expert for Kinesiothera apy to assist in Office of Personnell Management Qualification

2 Standards revision to enhance employment opportunities for Kinesiotherapists in the VA system. 6) Facilitated and hosted several Jobs Committee calls. Assisted in producing the information to develop the Jobs Marketing Packet. 7) Served as an appointed member on the Committee on Accreditation (COA) for Kinesiotherapy a division of the Council on Professional Standards for Kinesiotherapy (COPS-KT) and education programs. Performed lead duties for the University of Southern Mississippi Site visit continuing accreditation process. Assisted with revisions of the COA site visitor s manual. STATUS: Ongoing GOALS/PLANS: 1) Meet with past presidents, current president, and president elect at annual conference to discuss recommendations for future endeavors of the organization. 2) Provide continued guidance for current organizational president in upcoming year; establish regular meeting time and mentorship. 3) Continue advisement to the organization to maintain standards and integrity of the organization. 4) Assist in preparing for FY15- strategic goals and committee plans with Executive board at the annual meeting. 5) Propose re-instatement of the AKTA advisory board. 3 American Kinesiotherapy Association 118 College Drive #5142 Hattiesburg, MS (800) END OF YEAR REPORT Revenue Committee DATE: 10/15/14 TO: AKTA Executive Board FROM: Cynthia Howell SUBJECT: The Revenue committee has had regular monthly meetings since June of 2013, spending over 20 hours together discussing the potential fundraising opportunities for the AKTA to be able to expand its services to the membership. Timeframe: Ongoing Action Items: I. Membership drives: a. retention and expansion: developed and distributed specific letters to encourage Registration and appropriate membership b. analyzing the membership benefits: researching ways to improve or increase benefits. i. Online voting ii. New membership database iii. Clinical Kinesiology iv. Social media (Linkedin/Facebook, connection to other members, mentorship program)

4 II. Relationships: a. ACE (profit sharing) b. CEU companies (profit sharing) III. HMHB (profit sharing, job expansion) IV. MFA associate membership: sent promotion to all MFA members advertising for discounted AKTA associate membership ($95 regular/ $45 discount to MFA) V. Sponsorships: Sent out s to local vendors to sponsor AKTA in different levels. No response. VA KTs unable to follow-up with vendors due to conflict of interests. a. need to solicit volunteers from outside VA VI. AKTA CEU offerings: COE Modules VII. Grant Committee: Development of Veteran Wellness Center. Looking for grant opportunities. Goals: 1. Increase number of Kinesiotherapist s with MFA membership 2. Complete COE Modules: To date, the revenue committee has assisted to develop and edit the Test s and Measures powerpoint presentation to be used as COE Module as well as CEU sales for AKTA. Revenue committee has identified volunteers to assist with uploading COE modules, we are awaiting response from previous COE Director, Marge Ferraresi. 3. Establish volunteer committee: a. Potential Sponsorship Volunteers: Cindy Binkley, Devon Chambers, Brian Garrison. Revenue Committee members to get in touch with volunteers at MFA conference if they are attending. b. Fundraising committee: no volunteers identified 4. Revisit membership drive in 2015: associate, student, probation, revoked, emeritus 5. ACE campaign: Continue advertisement to membership through website and . Obtain testimonials from KTs who have completed the Health Coach certification. 6. Donation campaign: To be done annually 2

Duties as a contact person for the Mentorship Program include: setup of monthly calls, finding a facilitator, call topics and presenters. Yearly update of nomination forms for Executive Board positions ass well as awards. Receive all forms and forward to the Board for review and action. Helped the Jobs Committee create an Employer Packet inn hopes of providing more opportunities for KT s wanting to find jobs in the private sector. Researched outcome data and worked on KT Qualifications page. Participated in conference calls pertaining to the Jobs Committee. STATUS: Outstanding completion of Jobs Committeee packet. GOALS/ /PLANS: 1. Continue working with the Jobs Committee on current and upcoming projects. 2. Improve the AKTA Mentorship Program. 3. 7 American Kinesiotherapy Association 118 College Drive #5142 Hattiesburg, MS (800) QUARTERLY/ /YEAR END REPORT DATE: October 17, 2014 TO: American Kinesiotherapy Association (AKTA) Executive Board FROM: Second Vice President, Kreg Morris Summary Report Coordinated phone conferences between Allen Force & AKTA to solidify a partnership to help spread AllenForce s program Healthy Minds/Healthy Bodies for our Veteran s to reintegrate them back into the community. - Coordinated phone conferences with local YMCA to discuss starting a pilot program with HMHB and the VAMC (Las Vegas, NV). - Coordinated phone conference with Long Beach VAMC/Allen Force to possibly startt a HMHB project at the local YMCA in California. - Currently completed letter to send to local Veteran Organizations here in Las Vegas to ask for assistance in starting HMHB program at local YMCA through donations, networking etc. Will send letter once pamphlets for HMHB/KTs have arrived. - Tentatively scheduled train the trainer work shopp for the HMHB project at local YMCA in Las Vegas in January for KTs and local health care providers in the community. - Talked with physician at Las Vegas VAMC that specializes in amputee care to assist with finding Veterans thatt would assist with workshop so that attendees can have a hands on experience with our disabled Veteran population. Will also gather volunteer s from the SCI Wellness Program at VAMC - Will constructt letter to local Universities to ask if any studentss in health care profession would be interested in attending the workshop for HMHB. - Reached out to Johnathan Foster (Adaptive Sports) to offer opportunity to start HMHB project with Las Vegas Parks & Rec. GOALS FOR 2015:

8 1. Assit with opening HMHB workshop tentatively scheduled in Jan. at local YMCA. 2. Hopefully spread HMHB throughout Las Vegas/California to open more job opportunities for KTs. Respectfully submitted by Kreg Morris RKT, CBIS

Hired Marketing Director 2. Hired Graphic Designer 3. Put together all new materials including but not limited to a. Flyer Inserts b. New branding for increased awareness and to establish KTs necessity in MFA facilities 4. IN PROGRESS: a. Job Packets for both future KT and futuree employer of KTs GOAL: Solidify relationships with Medical Fitness Association and other allies for increased awareness and job creation. 1. Established relationship with American Council on Exercise for profit sharing as welll as awareness. 2. On committeee to establish relationship with HMHB a. Working on: i. Plan for KTs within HMHB ii. Helping HMHB establish separatee levels of training iii. Establishing profit sharing for trainings 3. Attended Yoga for Warriors training through YogaFit 4. Student= 18 GOAL: Increase revenue for AKTA. 1. Solicited sponsors for conference activities. 2. Established relationship with American Council on Exercise for profit sharing as well as awareness. 3. Established Sponsorship from author of Hope Emerges. 4. Established Profit sharing with Fitness Learning Systems GOAL: Increase retention of Membership. 1. In Progress: Establishment of new member management system for AKTA.org a. New credit card system b. New management system c. New application and renewal process 2.
