2 Veteran potlight he rennity of airhope is honored to recognize rivate irst lass ichael arkotsky as our Veteran spotlight. r. arkostsky was born in eptember 1926 in estmont,. is mother was from oland and dad was from the kraine. e grew up with one brother and one sister. fter graduation in 1944 he entered he nited tates ir orce. e was sent to ichigan tate niversity to attend a special program (...) to complete two years of school in six months. fterwards, he was sent to essler ir orce ase to train as a bomber and navigator on 26 planes. e was on point to fly out to Japan to bomb iroshima, and before that order could be carried out, the atomic bomb was dropped on ugust 6, e left the military in 1945 and returned to estmont and worked for estern lectric ompany as an engineer. e joined outhern ell and eventually that became &. e was one of the first to write computer programs to bring the telephone to the new age making it possible to repair and connect telephones remotely. fter 45 years he retired from &. hile in estmont he met a young waitress, arge. hey married and were transferred to tlanta. hey had 4 children. r. and rs. arkotsky opened their home to 24 foster children. hen asked what he was most proud of, he quickly answered, aising children; it s part of life. r. arkotsky said all the men coming back home from had one dream: o get married, have 2 kids and a two-car garage. e certainly accomplished his dream. eptember 9th...nn G. hank you, r. arkotsky, for serving our great nation. ssociate potlight ur ssociate potlight for eptember is arlene ryear. arlene has been a team member for 22 years. arlene s hobbies include fashion, makeup and entertaining at home. er favorite gourmet meal is shrimp lfredo. he is an avid reader, especially biographies. hen asked what she likes most about working at he rennity, she quickly answered, he esidents; they are like family. hank you, arlene, for all that you do! e are so glad that you are part of our rennity airhope amily! eptember 10th... ike. eptember 11th...Joyce. eptember 19th...oris. eptember 20th... orman G. eptember 20th... at. eptember 26th...
