2 How to Use This Activity Book and Music CD With a book and a song, learning is easy and fun! That s our conviction at Twin Sisters Productions. Now, learning the fifty U.S. states and their capitals is as easy as singing a familiar tune. The Music CD begins with The Pledge of egiance then introduces each state with an interesting fact about the state s history, geography, or a famous attraction. Next, the music transitions into an alphabetical listing of each state slow at first, then rather fast! Finally, with rhythm and repetition the kids sing each state and its capital. Practice and perform the songs for a memorable President s Day, Open House, or classroom or homeschool production. The lyrics are outlined as a s Theater using 10 readers. Feel free to involve fewer or more kids in the production. The music CD includes stereo listening tracks and instrumental performance tracks to make performing the songs top-notch and easy. Or use the full-piano vocal scores included and sing with your own accompanist or band! This 96-page Activity Book is designed to help kids easily learn much about the 50 states. Kids will discover each state s region, statehood, capital, largest cities, flag, and two-letter abbreviation. They ll learn each state s nickname, official state flower, tree, and bird. Compare the fifty states by total area and population based upon the 2004 population estimates prepared by the U.S. Bureau of the Census. Kids will understand the major industries found in each state. And learn the presidents of the United States and their birthplaces, too. The fifty states are all unique; it doesn t matter where you reside. 5. From California to eastern Maine, we ll visit every state. 6. We re a melting pot of different folks; I think we re all first rate. 7. Let s learn them in order. Alphabetically is the way we re going to teach you the states of the U.S. of A. The dry sunny climate in Nevada s desert towns encourages vacationers all year round. 1. In North Carolina the first airplane flight was conducted by the Wright brothers. 2. Oh, what a sight! 3. In North Dakota, where the great plains lie, where the Sioux Indian tribe roamed in days gone by. 4. In Ohio there s the Pro Football Hall of Fame. In the Buckeye State, it s a popular game! 5. Oklahoma is known for the wild rodeo. There the cowboys put on a real western show New Hampshire s scenic beauty will make you sigh, as the many green forests gently landscape the sky. 8. YEA! 6. The Appalachian Trail in Vermont, you ll find, offers cross-country skiing those trails sure wind. 7. Hey Virginia! We would like to give you a hand, for Washington and Jefferson lived on your land. 8. Washington state can be found on the Pacific. The Cascade Range it s view is just terrific. 9. The Appalachian Mountains you are going to find in the state of West Virginia, where they also mine. 10. The state of Wisconsin is famous for its lakes, 1. and all of the milk and cheese that it makes. 2. Many wild animals still make their home out in Wyoming...where they are free to roam.
