After an almost thirty-year hiatus, he began writing for the theatre, film and television again a few years ago. Fischer-Smith s plays have been produced in New York City at Ensemble Studio Theatre, Manhattan Repertory Theatre, The Secret Theatre, Nuyorican Poets Café, Theatre West 97, Marble Collegiate Church, and The Beckett Theatre. Regionally, his work has been produced in Arizona, California, Georgia, Kentucky, Maryland, Massachusetts, Michigan, New York, Rhode Island, and Washington. Fischer-Smith s work has been produced internationally in Canada (Toronto), Australia (Hobart, Melbourne, and Sydney), The Philippines (Manila,) and Malaysia (Kuala Lumpur). His plays have been published in The Louisville Review, Qu, a contemporary literary magazine from Queens University of Charlotte, Harmony, a visual arts and literary journal of the University of Arizona s College of Medicine Program in Medical Humanities, and The LIC One Act Play Festival Vol. 2, Top Secret Books. As a poet, he has been published in Three Line Poetry and The Risley Review. Fischer-Smith is a member of the Dramatists Guild of America, The Playwrights Center, and Theatre Communications Group. He received the Hermann-McCalmon Playwriting Award and a Dean s Scholars Research Award for playwriting while an undergraduate at Cornell University.
