1 CMS-JROTC S: 3 FEB SEP 16 MEMORANDUM FOR: All CMS JROTC Programs SUBJECT: Guidance for Annual CMS JROTC Cadet Selection for Military Order of Purple Hearts (MOPH) and the Sons of the American Revolution (SAR) Awards 1. Purpose. To provide guidance and assign responsibilities for selection of the CMS JROTC Cadet MOPH and SAR Award winners for School Year (SY) General. CMS JROTC Directorate will select CMS Cadet Awardees for the SY MOPH and SAR awards based on the criteria outlined below. 3. Application Requirements Sons of the American Revolution: Cadet must be a Junior (third year cadet in a four year program) Cadet must write a word essay (only copy will be accepted) Follow the Rubric guidance for CMS JROTC Essay, attachment Cadet must submit a cover page, see Cover Page attachment SSI must submit a recommendation, see attachment Military Order of the Purple Heart: Cadet must be a Senior Cadet must write a word essay (only copy will be accepted) Follow the Rubric guidance for CMS JROTC Essay, attachment Cadet must submit a cover page, see Cover Page attachment SSI must submit a recommendation, see attachment Judging. Initial Judging will be accomplished at the school level. Programs can submit a maximum of 2 essays (one for each scholarship/award) to the Directorate. Essays will be judged and scored at school and district level using the rubric at attachment 1. The Senior Instructor recommendation will be reviewed by the Director, CMS JROTC. 5. Awards.
2 5.1. Sons of the American Revolution: The district winner will receive a $250 award and will be eligible for the State Competition ($750) and the National Competition ($1000). If competing in the in the National Competition a packet must be filled out, see ( Military Order of the Purple Heart: District winner will receive $ Scholarships/awards will be handed out at the CMS JROTC Awards Ceremony In addition to the cash/scholarship prizes, each winner will receive a medal and certificate from the sponsoring organization, and a Certificate of Achievement from the Director, CMS JROTC. Font Type Times New Roman Font Size 12 pitch Margins Each page had 1 inch margins on all four sides.
