1 Page 1 of 5 Description of Company Operations System Overview Great Lakes Gas Transmission Limited Partnership (Great Lakes) is engaged in the business of transporting natural gas in interstate commerce subject to the jurisdiction of the Federal Energy Regulatory Commission (Commission). Great Lakes operates a high pressure natural gas pipeline system extending from a point on the International Boundary near Emerson, Manitoba, across the states of Minnesota, Wisconsin, and Michigan to a point on the International Boundary near St. Clair, Michigan. The 2,115 mile pipeline system consists of 2,016 miles of 36-inch pipeline, 11 miles of 24-inch pipeline and a lateral line consisting of 44 miles of 12-inch pipeline and 44 miles of 10-inch pipeline which extends from the mainline in the Upper Peninsula of Michigan to a point on the International Boundary near Sault Ste. Marie, Michigan. The system also includes a total horsepower of approximately 438,000 installed at 14 compressor stations. 5 Page 5 of 5 Design and Operation of Great Lakes' System Great Lakes' system is hydraulically modeled using Gregg Engineering Winflow software with the AGA general flow equations. The Emerson to St. Clair mainline has an MAOP of 974-PSIG and the Sault Ste. Marie Extension has an MAOP of 1142-PSIG. The gas specific gravity is and heat content is 1013-BTU. The summer design temperatures are 68 degrees/71 degrees ambient for Stations 1-11 and respectively, and 55 degrees ground. The winter design temperatures are 28 degrees/35 degrees ambient and 37 degrees ground. The summer period is April 1 though October 31 (214 days) and the winter period is November 1 through March 31 (151 days).
