1 Pipeline Operational Qualification (OQ) Crosswalks A guide to the 3 rd edition pipeline covered task modules. Complete Packet Crosswalks provided for: 1 st & 2 nd Edition s 1 st & 2 nd Edition s 1 st & 2 nd Edition Performance Verifications (s) Progress Blvd. Alachua, FL

2 Pipeline Overview In response to industry needs, separated all Pipeline Operations & Maintenance Covered Tasks (CTs) into individual modules to provide more individualized training and testing. Content for the covered task modules was aligned to American Petroleum Institute s (API) standard 1161 and 1104, 3d edition. In addition, continued to develop tasks no longer listed by API for gas operations, and developed tasks identified by the industry (such as cold cutting, flange bolting, and mud plugging). The benefit of providing each covered task as an individual module was the ability to train, test, and qualify only on the task needed. The team streamlined the testing process, provided a more substantial testing platform, and eliminated confusion of training and testing requirements. The revised pipeline training and qualification program now offers concise direction for five established career paths: Pipeline Operations Technician, Pipeline Mechanical Technician, Pipeline Maintenance Technician, Pipeline Electrical and Instrumentation Technician, and Pipeline Corrosion Technician. Each career path starts with core construction skills and an Introduction to the Pipeline Industry, and then proceeds into each discipline in a training path culminating in training for the CTs. Overall, there are currently 127 individual covered tasks modules, including two abnormal operating condition (AOC) modules, and are comprised of approximately 3000 pages of craft training in 14 books (including two books translated into Spanish). Exam materials testing competence through knowledge and performance were redesigned for each training module. As of March 30, 2017, all 127 covered task modules are available for purchase through the VitalSource platform, and the computer-based written module exams are available through s new test system. 3 How to read the included crosswalks: The correlation between the first and second editions to the third edition can be difficult to interpret due to the complexity of curriculum and the duplication of covered tasks and assessments. In order to provide a more understandable data set, the following crosswalks have been developed to provide assistance for transition to the third edition of s pipeline curriculum. If a row is highlighted in grey - That task is obsolete and has been reincorporated into the pipeline curriculum under another number. Refer to the third edition module listed in that row for new qualification on that particular task. If a row is highlighted in red - That task is no longer available for operational qualification (OQ) as of September 2, Crosswalk 1. Find the appropriate API task number in the first column. 2. The second column, titled 1 st & 2 nd Edition, lists the module(s), assessment(s), and that were previously associated with that task. The third column, titled Type categorizes the information from the second column. 3. The fourth column, titled 3 rd Edition CT s is the new qualification method for that task. The fifth column, titled 3 rd Edition, lists the type of product indicated in the fourth column. Number Crosswalk 1. Find the appropriate module number in the first column, titled 1 st & 2 nd Edition s. 2. The second column, titled, indicates the task numbers associated with that module. 3. The third column, titled 3 rd Edition CT s, is the new qualification method for that task. The fourth column, titled 3 rd Edition, lists the type of product indicated in the third column. Crosswalk 1. Find the appropriate module number in the first column, titled 1 st & 2 nd Edition. 2. The second column, titled, indicates the task numbers associated with that assessment. 3.
