2 The men and women of the Federated States of America (FSA) make it on merit, the land of opportunity is a rough and tumble place where those of ability are able to forge their own success irrespective of their background. Officers in the Federated States are those who, through hard work, luck and raw ability are elevated to the rank. Infantry Officer Set Federated States of America Product Code: DLFS41 Infantry Officers are the backbone of every army, whether operating on their own or with a select Section of guards, their insight, experience, courage and ability is so often the difference between victory and defeat! Accompanying the Infantry officer is often a well-trained cadre of Federal Infantry, as well as a Forward Observer, able to call down heavy artillery support to assist the advance of the Federal Army. 4 Line Infantry Expansion Set Federated States of America Product Code: DLFS43 One of the core strengths of the Federated States, and by extension its military, is the immense diversity and opportunity afforded its citizens. With more options than any other national force the Federates States Line Infantry Sections can leverage this diversity of talent to craft a front line fighting force like nothing else. The Federal Infantry makes full use of the tactical edge provided by specialists, forward observers, Machine Gun Crews, Scouts and Hunters. The Pattern 1869 Light Machine Gun is a lightweight but sturdy weapon. Although unlike the Gatlings in having only a single barrel, the Pattern 1869 includes an ingenious clockwork crank system as part of its firing mechanism. When necessary, the gunner can activate the crank, increasing the weapon s rate of fire to a frightening degree for a short time. In a military filled with crank drive machine guns of all shapes and sizes, perhaps the most widespread, and widely feared are the.50 Gatling Guns used by the Federal Infantry s Heavy Machine Gun Teams. 6 Heroes of the FSA Set Federated States of America Product Code: DLFS44 In the land of opportunity many great individuals have stepped forward through sheer force of their abilities and talent. The Heroes of the States are the courageous men and women won inspire the nation. Songs are composed in their honour and stories told. Grizzled veterans or daring soldiers, they have risen through their own genius to the greatness of hero. Long may they serve the States, long may they inspire the people, and long may they stand to give the enemy a damned good thrashing! The Federated States of America Heroes of the Federated States Set includes the following miniatures: Doctor Samuel Orlington and Crook the Buzzard Doctor Samuel Orlington, also known as Scattergun Sam, heir to the Orlington industrial empire, an inventor and something of an autodidact, Doctor Orlington isn t officially a member of the Federal Army. As an inventor and purveyor of many of the fine weapons that have given the Federated States it s edge, Doc Orlington takes a personal interest in traveling with the army in order to test and hone his handiwork. Despite the fact he is not true army, his keen advice and deadly skill are much valued, and despite the lack of a uniform or stripes, Doc Orlington is held in high esteem by the Federal army. Crook the Buzzard is the enhanced companion of Doc Orlington. With a specially designed harness and imaging system designed by the good Doctor, and trained to fly the battlefield in wide reconnaissance patterns the Doc is able to use his goggles to literally see what Crook sees. This gives the Federated States armies a key tactical advantage over the enemy! Major Beauregard and the Clock-O-Dile Major Nathan Claude Beauregard, is a tough and highly respected battlefield Commander. A passionate hunter, Beauregard is not afraid of getting his hands dirty, and prefers to lead from the front. With his exotic robotic companion, he has become something of a mascot for the Federal Army! A keen hunter of alligators, Major Beauregard commissioned an inventor to build him a homage to both the beast, and the technological marvels of the age. The result was the Clock-O-Dile, nearly a ton of iron, springs, coils, pistons and rage. A beast so frightening that whole Sections who have faced it on the battlefield have had to be discharged. A flailing mess of iron teeth and threshing jaws, belching steam, creaking, clanking, and dealing in violent destruction like a casino deals cards. 9 The Empire of the Blazing Sun Ashigaru Line soldiers are feared across the battlefields of the world for their ferocity and discipline. Ashigaru Infantry Set Empire of the Blazing Empire Product Code: DLBS42 The modern Ashigaru infantryman is a tough, highly trained and supremely motivated fighting trooper. They are armed with formidable drum-fed automatic shotguns that are devastating at close range, and loaded with fearsome incendiary rounds, products of the Imperial Alchemical institute s research. Accompanied by a Flag Signaller, they are able to receive and relay orders from their officers, allowing them a unique and dangerous focus during battles. 10 Ashigaru Infantry Expansion Set Empire of the Blazing Empire- Product Code: DLBS43 Bringing to bear the terrifying technologies and developments of the Imperial Alchemical laboratories, the specialists, medics and machine guns often seen in Ashigaru Sections provide a unique support to the mainstay soldiers of those outfits. The feared Type 7 Rocket Projector, commonly known as the Okha or Cherry Blossom, is a potent weapon. Lightweight and simple to build and operate, it hurls a warhead packed with powerful chemical explosives. These shells can blast a hole in an enemy ironclad or blow a machine gun nest to smithereens, making a lone infantryman a threat to the largest targets. The tripod mounted, Kawachi-Kanpon Type 9 is a double-barrelled, fully automatic heavy shotgun. Loaded with the Alchemical Institute s trademark incendiary shells, the Type 9 has earned the nickname Fireball. As essentially an enlarged version of the infantry weapon, the Fireball shows off the stunning fantastical detail on the weapon s barrel and housing, capturing the ornate, oriental influence that sets the Blazing Sun apart. Blazing Sun regiments are served by numerous medical personnel who undertake enormous risks without hesitation to extract wounded soldiers from the teeth of enemy fire. Like so many aspects of the Blazing Sun military, the Three Armies medical corps has seen great advances in their equipment and techniques thanks to the Imperial Alchemical Institute. Blazing Sun medics are even capable of offering on the spot treatment for gas injuries and other exotic wounds. The Empire of the Blazing Sun Heroes of the Empire Set includes the following miniatures: Alchemist Tonegawa and Takera Isamu Tonegawa is a noted expert in poison gas research. He frequently accompanies Blazing Sun forces in order to test various experimental chemical weapons, often developed to his own specifications. Tonegawa is a figure who strikes fear into opposing forces with barrages of noxious gas-bombs from his specialised grenade launcher. Takera Isamu is a loyal friend of Alchemist Tonegawa, in his own right a famous and respected leader, he has forgone field commands to stay by his friend s side. Often able to provide support, leadership and tactical guidance in the middle of heated engagements, Isamu is equally feared for his deadly ability with his daisho. Master Kozo Okinawa and Madame Taipan A field commander of repute Master Kozo Okinawa is from a long line of proud Samurai lineage. His cool head, discipline and tactical genius have earned him fear and respect. Often accompanied by a cadre of rocket projector specialists, Master Okinawa is master of shock and awe, and deadly in close. Madame Taipan, a seemingly innocuous geisha who Master Okinawa is rarely seen without, is an easy person to underestimate. Able to perform the traditional chanoyu, with a pleasant voice, fingers that are able on a shamisen and a rare charm and grace, Madame Taipan cuts a memorable figure. However, she is also one of the deadliest close combatants in the world, more than proficient in a dozen martial arts, able to use a variety of weapons, and even purportedly, one of the Empire s best shots from horseback she is a figure whose charm is able to disarm the most prepared of adversaries, and whose lethal capabilities have laid low many proud warriors.
