1 1. Who qualifies for the scholarship? a. Applicant must be a Singapore Citizen b. Applicants whose age are or below 25 years old c. Applicants who have been accepted for full-time study to the eligible schools listed below: i. Institute of Technical Education (ITE) ii. Nanyang Polytechnic (NYP) iii. Ngee Ann Polytechnic (NP) iv. Republic Polytechnic (RP) v. Singapore Polytechnic (SP) vi. Temasek Polytechnic (TP) vii. National University of Singapore (NUS) viii. Nanyang Technological University (NTU) ix. Singapore Management University (SMU) x. Singapore University of Technology and Design (SUTD) xi. Singapore Institute of Technology (SIT) xii. Singapore University of Social Sciences (SUSS) xiii. Yale-NUS College (YNC) d. Applicant household per capita income must not exceed $750 per month e. The scholarship accepts mid-term applications. Applicants who have started school or may not be on their first year of studies are welcome to apply for the scholarship. f. There is no restriction on applicants course of study. 2. What is the length of the bond period? a. The scholarship is bond free. We encourage you to contribute to society in whatever ways possible during and after you have completed your studies. 2 3. What are the terms and conditions attached with the scholarship? a. Scholars are expected to maintain good academic results. We require you to maintain an average GPA of 3.0 (for ITE and Polytechnic students) or an average GPA of 4.0 (for University students) during the scholarship period. b. We regret to inform that you would have to refund, without interest, all monies paid if your scholarship is terminated. However, the HYC PSA Committee will assess the reasons for the termination and may at its absolute discretion waive the requirements for refund. 4. What does the scholarship support? a. Scholarship support full time study for: i. ITE: Certificate/Higher Certificate ii. Polytechnic: Diploma/Higher/Advanced/Specialist Diploma iii. University: Basic Degree (up to Honors level) b. Scholarship will cover: i. Annual tuition and other compulsory fees. ii. Living allowance: $300 per month iii. Book allowance: 1. $200 per year (ITE & Polytechnics) 2. $500 per year (Universities) 5. What are the application details? a. The application opens on 1 December b. The deadline for submission of applications are: i. ITE: 31 January, 5pm ii. 3 6. What is the application process? a. Applicants should submit their applications through: b. Completed and signed application form (hardcopy) with supporting documents are to be sent and received by the HYC PSA Scholarship Secretariat before the respective deadlines. c. Can I take up a part-time job during my scholarship period? a. You are encouraged to undertake your studies full-time and diligently pursue the course within the award period. b. While we discourage you to take up any part-time employment, when there is reasonable justification or for exceptional cases, applicants are advised to write in for the HYC PSA Scholarship Secretariat for the HYC PSA Committee to assess the reasons and at its absolute discretion, permit scholars to take up a part-time job during the scholarship period. 8. Would the HYC PSA Scholarship Secretariat help the scholars apply for the Ministry of Education ( MOE ) tuition grant subsidy? a. It is the scholar s own responsibility to ensure that he/she applies for the prevailing MOE tuition grant subsidy. Last Updated: 10 January 2018 Page 3 of 5

4 9. Can I change the course of my study during the scholarship period? a. We discourage making any changes to the course you are pursuing or taking up additional courses without the prior written approval of the HYC PSA Committee. 10. When would the scholarship subsidies end? a. The scholarship will be terminated on the last day of your final examinations in your final year of study. The fixed allowance(s) for that month will be paid to you in full. 11. What if I decide to withdraw from my course of study? a. The scholarship will be terminated if you withdraw from or fail to complete your studies. 12. How can I terminate the scholarship? a. You may at any time during the award period terminate the scholarship by giving the HYC PSA Committee at least 1 month s prior notice in writing. 13. Do I qualify for the scholarship if I am currently benefitting from a bursary? a. Typically, the scholarship allows our scholars to hold bursaries in addition to the HYC PSA Scholarship to alleviate financial difficulties. b. In exceptional circumstances, if the quantum of the bursary is assessed to be sufficiently large to support the intended benefits of the scholarships like tuition fees and living allowances, the HYC PSA Committee may at its absolute discretion, disqualify applicants or scholars from the scholarship. c. When in doubt, applicants or scholars are advised to enquire with the HYC PSA Scholarship Secretariat, and provide relevant details like the name, duration and quantum of the bursary awarded.
