2 Title: Recent Advances in Spatial Modulation Time: AM 09:30~AM 10:00, November 25, 2016 Abstract: Spatial modulation (SM) is a MIMO technique, which was introduced for wireless systems in which the number of RF chains is smaller than the number of transmit antennas. The principle is to convey information bits using the index(es) of the active antenna(s). In this talk, we review conventional SM and present a newly introduced technique using one or two active antennas and multiple signal constellations. This technique, which we refer to as Enhanced SM or ESM, conveys information bits not only by the index(es) of the active antenna(s), but also by the constellations transmitted from each of them. The main feature of Enhanced SM is that it uses a primary signal constellation during the single active antenna periods and some other secondary constellations during the periods with two active transmit antennas. The secondary signal constellations are derived from the primary constellation by means of geometric interpolation in the signal space. We give design examples using two and four transmit antennas and QPSK, 16QAM and 64QAM as primary modulations. The proposed technique is compared to conventional SM as well as to spatial multiplexing (SMX), and the results indicate that in most cases, ESM provides a substantial performance gain over conventional SM and SMX, while reducing the maximum-likelihood (ML) decoder complexity. Hikmet Sari is currently Professor and Head of the Telecommunications Department of CentraleSupélec, which is one of the top engineering schools in France, and also Chief Scientist of Sequans Communications, a leading developer and supplier of LTE chipset solutions. He received his Engineering Degree and Ph.D. from the ENST, Paris, France, and the post-doctoral Habilitation degree from the University of Paris-Sud, Orsay. Prior to his current positions, he held various research and management positions in industry including Philips Research Laboratories, SAT, Alcatel, Pacific Broadband Communications, and Juniper Networks. His distinctions include the IEEE Fellow Grade (1995), the AndréBlondel Medal (also in 1995), the Edwin H. Armstrong Achievement Award in 2003, the Harold Sobol Award in 2012, as well as election to Academia Europaea (the Academy of Europe) and to the Science Academy of Turkey in Prof. Sari has served as an Editor of the IEEE Transactions on Communications ( ), a Guest Editor of the European Transactions on Telecommunications (1993) and of the IEEE JSAC (1999), and an Associate Editor of the IEEE Communications Letters ( ). Keynote Speaker: Prof. Fumiyuki Adachi, IEEE Fellow Title: Distributed Antenna Small-cell Network and Dense Heterogeneous Network for 5G Time: AM 10:30~AM 11:00, November 25, 2016 Abstract: After 35 years from its birth, wireless mobile communications networks have evolved into 4G. The mobile data traffic volume in 2020 is expected to reach about 1000 times of 2010 and simultaneously improving the spectrum and energy efficiencies is an important issue. 5G development is now intensively ongoing. 5G networks needs to be significantly restructured. A promising solution is to introduce a small-cell structured network. In this talk, we will introduce two approaches toward 5G: distributed antenna network that consisting of a number of antennas deployed over each macro-cell and heterogeneous network (HetNet) consisting of macro-cell base station (MBS) and a number of small base stations (SBSs). In the first part of this talk, we will present the recent advances in distributed antenna cooperative signal transmission techniques for the distributed antenna network: the space-time block-coded diversity and the multi-user spatial multiplexing. Since higher frequency bands will be used in 5G, the transmit signal peak-to-average power ratio (PAPR) becomes an important concern for power amplifiers of battery operated user equipment (UE). PAPR reduction technique will also be presented. In the second part of this talk, we will present the distributed radio resource management with respect to the frequency, time, and energy for the HetNet. A game theoretic SBS power on/off algorithm and a distributed dynamic channel assignment will be presented. Fumiyuki Adachi received the B.S. and Dr. Eng. degrees in electrical engineering from Tohoku University, Sendai, Japan, in 1973 and 1984, respectively. In April 1973, he joined the Electrical Communications Laboratories of Nippon Telegraph & Telephone Corporation (now NTT) and conducted various researches on digital cellular mobile communications. From July 1992 to December 1999, he was with NTT Mobile Communications Network, Inc. 3

4 (now NTT DoCoMo, Inc.), where he led a research group on Wideband CDMA for 3G systems. Since January 2000, he has been with Tohoku University, Sendai, Japan. His research interest lies in the area of wireless signal processing (multi-access, equalization, antenna diversity, adaptive transmission, channel coding, etc.) and networking. He is an IEICE Fellow and an IEEE Fellow. He was a recipient of the IEEE Vehicular Technology Society Avant Garde Award 2000, IEICE Achievement Award 2002, Thomson Scientific Research Front Award 2004, Ericsson Telecommunications Award 2008, Telecom System Technology Award 2009, Prime Minister Invention Award 2010, British Royal Academy of Engineering Distinguished Visiting Fellowship 2011, KDDI Foundation Excellent Research Award 2012, VTS Conference Chair Award 2014, and C&C Prize He is listed in Highly Cited Researchers 2001 ( Keynote speaker: Prof. Tomohiko Taniguchi, IEEE Fellow Title: Toward Human Centric Society (Fujitsu and its R&D) Time: AM 11:20~AM 11:50, November 25, 2016 Abstract: Following brief introduction of speaker and his company (Fujitsu), R&D activities toward Human Centric Society will be introduced. Starting with Paradigm shift in ICT, the topics covered will be on IoT / Cloud Computing, Sensing Human Activity, and Mobile 5G, each with video clip demonstrating usage scenario. Tomohiko Taniguchi received his B.S.E.E. degree from the University of Tokyo, Tokyo, Japan in 1982, and joined Fujitsu Laboratories Limited, Kawasaki, Japan (received his Ph.D. from the same university in 2006). From 1987 to 1988, he was a visiting scholar at Stanford University, Stanford, CA, USA; from 1996 to 2000, he was with Fujitsu Laboratories of America, Sunnyvale, CA, USA. He is currently with Fujitsu Laboratories Limited, Kawasaki, Japan, as a Research Principal. He has been active in the field of signal processing for more than 30 years and is recognized for his inventions in speech coding and DSP technologies (holds essential patents for international standards, such as ITU-T, MPEG, and 3GPP). He is a recipient of several awards for his papers, patents, and contributions to academic society (Outstanding Service Award, 2006/2010, Best Symposium Award, 2011/2013, Industrial Distinguished Leader Award, 2014). As an industry expert, he teaches at Beijing University of Posts and Telecommunications (Distinguished Visiting Professor, ) and at Duy Tan University (Guest Professor, ). Dr. Taniguchi is a Fellow of IEEE and IEICE. 4

7 Travel Information Xuanwu Lake is located in Xuanwu District in the central-northeast part of Nanjing in Jiangsu, China. It is near the Nanjing Railway Station and Ji Ming Temple. Five islands within the lake are interconnected by arched bridges Dr. Sun Yat-sen's Mausoleum is situated at the foot of the second peak of Mount Zijin in Nanjing, China. Construction of the tomb started in January 1926, and was finished in spring of 1929 Nanjing Traditional Food Restaurant was founded in 1994, is the Nanjing people show the unique cuisine of the classical hotel brand in Xinjiekou Nanjing. The restaurant serves the 100 years ago traditional food in the Republic of China. 7
