1 Women of the Vine & Spirits Foundation, Ltd. Scholarship Program Guidelines Women of the Vine & Spirits Foundation, Ltd. (the Foundation ) provides scholarships and awards for the purpose of helping women advance in their careers in the food, wine, spirits, hospitality, or viticulture industries through education, leadership, and professional development, as well as fostering gender diversity and talent development across the industry at large. Scholarships The Foundation offers scholarships each calendar year to recipients of either a Professional & Leadership Development Scholarship or an Educational Scholarship as described below. Applicants may only apply for one scholarship per calendar year. Professional & Leadership Development Scholarship: This scholarship awards recipients with attendance at the Women of the Vine & Spirits Global Symposium. Each year the Foundation will announce the number of scholarships to be awarded. For 2018, the Foundation will award two scholarships for recipients attendance at the Women of the Vine & Spirits Global Symposium on March 11 through March 13, The Foundation will award each recipient with a Women of the Vine & Spirits Global Symposium ticket, lodging for the duration of the symposium, and transportation to and from the San Francisco area airport. The Foundation will also reimburse recipients for airfare up to $500 upon proof of the recipients purchase of the airline ticket; if the recipient cancels/does not attend the Global Symposium, the recipient must reimburse Foundation for such reimbursed airfare expense. Applicant must be a Women of the Vine & Spirits member. Educational Scholarships: This scholarship awards recipients either a student scholarship or a continuing education scholarship as described below. Each year the Foundation will announce the number of scholarships to be awarded. For 2018, the Foundation will award two scholarships to recipients to assist with their tuition, course materials, lodging, and related educational expense. The dollar amount of each Educational Scholarship will range from $ up to $ , and will fall under either one of the following categories - o Student scholarship award for applicants already enrolled in an accredited food, wine, hospitality, viticulture, or other alcohol beverage industry related postsecondary program. o Continuing education scholarship - award for applicants towards the cost of professional advancement courses regarding the food, wine, hospitality, and/or viticulture industries. Courses awarded may include, but shall not be limited to, the California Wine Appellation Specialist course, WSET Wine Certification course, Somm Essentials, Court of Master Sommeliers courses, Advanced Tasting programs, public speaking courses, and career development courses.

2 WSET Scholarships - As part of our Strategic Alliance with the Wine & Spirit Education Trust (WSET), Women of the Vine & Spirits will provide scholarships toward WSET course fees. The mutual alliance aims to improve the visibility of progression paths and opportunities for women in the wine and spirits industry. WSET Scholarships is a subset of the Continuing Education Scholarship. Applicants should specify which Level and provider they would like to apply their Scholarship toward on the application where indicated. The dollar amount of WSET Scholarships varies by Level.

3 Applicant Criteria for Professional & Leadership Development Scholarships Must be at least 21 years of age. Must be a legal U.S. resident. Must have a minimum of five years active employment within the food, wine, hospitality, and/or viticulture industries. Must submit a completed and signed scholarship application that meets the criteria and includes May not be an owner, officer, director or employee of a Silver, Gold, Platinum, Diamond, or Founding Sponsor of the Women of the Vine & Spirits Global Symposium. Applicant Criteria for Student Scholarships Must be at least 18 years of age. Must be enrolled in a minimum of nine credit hours of accredited food, wine, hospitality, viticulture, or other alcohol beverage industry related postsecondary program (i.e. college/university) for two consecutive semesters or terms and have completed at least one grading term of such program. Must have a minimum cumulative grade point average of 3.0 on a 4.0 scale. Must submit a complete transcript of grades from your college/secondary school.

4 Must submit a completed and signed scholarship application that meets the criteria and includes Applicant Criteria for Continuing Education Scholarships Must be at least 21 years of age. Must have a minimum of five years active employment within the food, wine, hospitality, and/or viticulture industries. Must submit a completed and signed scholarship application that meets the criteria and includes Scholarship Selection Committee The Scholarship Selection Committee (the Committee ) is responsible for selecting the scholarship recipients. The Committee will review the applicants for the scholarship and select recipients by majority vote. The Committee will not discriminate based on race, ethnicity, and/or age in the selection of recipients. Applications will be judged on the following criteria: Quality of the application, including spelling, grammar, and content; Essay content, including quality of writing and word count; Industry-related experience; Letters of recommendation; and Telephone interview if requested by the Committee.

5 Scholarship Award Program Timeline: Each year the Foundation will announce the Application dates for submission, deadlines and for announcement of scholarship awards. For the 2018 scholarship program, the following dates are announced: Application process opens: April 15, 2018 Application deadline*: August 31, 2018 (*A complete application, meeting all scholarship applicant criteria and including all required attachments, must be postmarked or electronically submitted no later than 11:59PM on the application deadline date above in order for the applicant to be considered as a scholarship candidate.) Deadline for Scholarship Selection Committee s decision and notification date: On or before September 19, 2018 Scholarship recipients will be notified by . Applicants who were not selected will also receive a notification . Scholarship payment date: Varies by scholarship type and related program and will be issued directly to the educational institution (or otherwise) on the scholarship recipient s behalf. Scholarship Recipient Responsibilities Professional & Leadership Development Scholarship recipients are expected to attend the Women of the Vine & Spirits 2019 Global Symposium, and Educational Scholarship recipients are expected to attend college or continuing education coursework (as applicable) for which the scholarship is being awarded for. If the recipient is unable to attend, the recipient is required to provide at least sixty (60) days cancellation notice to the Foundation. The Professional & Leadership Development and Educational Scholarships are not assignable or transferable, and no cash equivalents of the scholarships will be provided to recipients under any circumstance.
