Training Program Overview Introduction to CERNER Training The goal for CERNER training is to deliver a constructive, interactive, and self-motivated training program that allows users to develop knowledge, skill, and confidence using the CERNER system. This will allow us to ensure a safe and high quality experience for our patients from the first day of our go-live. During the inpatient go-live, we ll be providing training to more than end users. Our CERNER Training Program is based on the following guiding principles established at the outset of this project. o o o o ST. DOMINIC s requires CERNER training and a proficiency test for all users. Users will not receive log-on credentials until a proficiency test is passed. This is a no pass, no access policy. Proficiency is a condition of medical staff privileges. Training is required and will be compensated under standard work policies. Training Objective The CERNER Training Team is committed to providing end-users with a meaningful learning experience. We have an excellent team of creative, energetic, and loyal people conscientiously working to design, develop, and deliver appropriate training for our go-live events as well as ongoing training with an infrastructure to support and sustain user readiness. Team roles and responsibilities align with our objective to help you learn to use CERNER and ensure you have the information necessary to complete the correct Training Plan for your role. Assessments Assessments to determine proficiency are administered at the end of instructor-led class and require a minimum score of 80%. Failure to achieve a minimum score of 80% after three attempts requires a repeat of the appropriate instructor-led class before advancing to the next step in the Training Plan toward receiving system access to the CERNER system. Ongoing CERNER Training New employees, providers, incoming house staff, medical, nursing, and other clinical students complete the same CERNER training requirements as those for the original go-live implementations. 7

Access Training Facility Information CERNER training classes will be taught in various ST. DOMINIC s facilities. All training facilities are secure environments. The classroom location will appear in the confirmation you receive from HealthStream upon registering for a class. Personal comfort, food, beverages, and electronic devices: We want you to feel comfortable when attending training. Make a note of the following guidelines when preparing to attend training. o o o o o o o o Dress in layers to accommodate personal preference. Fragrance-free environment due to health conditions triggered from sensitivity to scents. Food is not permitted in the classrooms. Covered beverage containers may be permitted in the classroom. Break room space is available in most areas if you want to bring food for breaks or a meal. Food may be purchased at various food locations. Turn electronic devices to silent during class. Power outlets may not be available in the classroom to charge laptop or electronic devices. Parking Parking is available at the various facility locations. 8

Credentialed Trainers CERNER Training & Support Team Credentialed Trainers (CTs) are the classroom instructors who will teach CERNER to all ST. DOMINIC s end-users. They are responsible for ensuring that each user completes his or her required training plan to gain access to the system. Physician Champions Physician Champions play a vital role during and following go-live by actively supporting CERNER and ensuring users know how to use CERNER properly in their work area. Each Physician Champion should register for the appropriate CERNER training for their job. Following this initial training, Physician Champions are expected to sit in on the same jobappropriate CERNER training when it is held during End User Training. During this time, Physician Champions continue developing proficiency in the system and will assist the Credentialed Trainers with questions about operational practices or processes. Finally, Physician Champions attend a Readiness Session in the week before go-live to ensure they are prepared to provide support on their unit, clinic, or work area. During this Readiness Session, Physician Champions receive all of the necessary details, instructions, and contacts to reference for issues that arise at and following go-live. 9

Role Based Training Plans Training Resources Each Training Plan combines e-learning and role-based core instructor-led courses required for access to CERNER. Each role-based Training Plan is configured in the LMS to assist end users with the registration process to ensure completion of each training activity to gain access to CERNER. Courses in each Training Plan must be taken in the order listed. Refer to the applicationspecific section of the course catalog to read a high-level description of the course content, pre-learning and course prerequisites, and other relevant information. Register into a class according to the course sequence in the Training Plan because content builds from one learning to the next. NOTE: Breaks are included in Classroom Hours. Classes with duration of 6 or more hours also include a 30-minute meal break. Course Catalog The Course Catalog section is organized according to the various CERNER applications and provides additional details about the courses in your Training Plan. Application Course Course Length Course Description Pre-learning or E-Learning Prerequisites Course prerequisites CERNER application The name of the course The duration of the class from Start to End. Comfort breaks are included for all classes. A 60-minute meal break is included for courses with 6 or more hours of content. High-level content summary Online lessons to prepare you for the instructor-led class. Includes content to reduce instructor-led class time. Average duration of 2-5 minutes for each E-Learning course. Note: Failure to complete pre-learning before coming to class may result in the end user not meeting the objectives and having to retake the class. Course or courses that must be completed before taking the course. 10

E-Learning Courses The CERNER E-Learning courses provide an efficient method to begin learning about the CERNER system. These courses serve as pre-learning or prerequisites to instructor-led classes and refreshers for workflows, navigations, and functions of the CERNER applications. Refer to the CERNER E-Learning Listing available at the end of Application section. 11
