2 ADS is proud to offer the powerful, yet easy-to-use MedicsDocAssistant Electronic Health Records (EHR) system. The highly interoperable MedicsDocAssistant EHR is the ideal solution for electronically recording and storing patients medical and clinical information, and for a myriad of other functions and capabilities designed to streamline medical practices of any size and scope. Details of those capabilities follow throughout this brochure. They can also be seen more broadly by visiting on which a number of videos and representations also appear. About MedicsDocAssistant EHR s certifications: This Complete EHR is 2014 Edition compliant and has been certified by an ONC-ACB in accordance with the applicable certification criteria adopted by the Secretary of Health and Human Services. The CHPL Product number is R00. MedicsDocAssistant Version 7.0 was certified on September 9, Whether you are transitioning your practice into the world of EHR for the first time, or are seeking an updated EHR system to replace an existing one, your choice should be a leading product from a proven company. Your first choice should be MedicsDocAssistant EHR The Ultimate in Electronic Health Records Software. CLOUD/ ASP OR CUSTOMER HOSTED: YOUR SOFTWARE YOUR WAY MedicsDocAssistant EHR is available in the format best suited toward your practice s needs, whether Cloud/ ASP or Customer Hosted. MedicsDocAssistant EHR Cloud / ASP allows users to access the system through the internet. MedicsDocAssistant EHR Customer Hosted is the configuration of choice for a practice that prefers to have the system residing on its own server. Regardless of format, MedicsDocAssistant EHR will provide the features and functionality needed to manage patients clinical and medical data. It is also the ideal EHR for revenue cycle management companies to use for their physician clients. MedicsDocAssistant EHR: ICD-10 and KEY FEATURES / CAPABILITES: ICD-10: MedicsDocAssistant s ICD-10 Code Converter provides for a quick dropdown selection of codes based on the ICD-9 code or a text search of codes using Google - type search capability. The provider selects the most appropriate ICD-10 code from the list, clicks to insert, then sends the encounter electronically for billing. Eliminates both repetitive data entry and paper by automating the patient encounter. MedicsDocAssistant EHR templates are specialty-specific with Quick Dictionaries and Vocabulary Wizards applicable to the specialty. The system also has a quick Template Builder capability for providers who required specific, custom templates. Tree structured physical examination and familiar SOAP formats. E/M Coding Guideline helps to prevent over coding and under coding.
3 Solid peace-of-mind security with the ability to back-up patients medical and clinical data. The potential calamity of paper files being lost in a fire, a flood, by theft, or by simply being misplaced, is eliminated with MedicsDocAssistant EHR. Assessment and Treatment Plans to help ensure that patients are properly diagnosed and that appropriate courses of treatment are utilized. MedicsDocAssistant EHR has access to Evidence-Based Order Sets, Clinical Decision Support Rules, and Quality Measures based on the most current medical literature and findings, saving the practice time and costs on developing same. LABS AND PHARMACIES: THE ELECTRONICS OF IT ALL With MedicsRx, prescriptions can be electronically transmitted to the patient s pharmacy directly from the patient s MedicsDocAssistant record. The system also maintains a comprehensive patient database on medications prescribed, dosages, refills, formularies, drug-to-drug interactions, allergies, and more. e-rx can also handle controlled substances in states allowing for that. On the lab side, orders can be submitted directly to the lab through the patient s MedicsDocAssistant record. Results are downloaded by the lab back into the patient s record. Notifications are automatically generated to the physician alerting him or her that results for the patient have been received, with higher alerts whenever results are abnormal. Results can be displayed in side-by-side format for easy comparison to past results on those same type of tests. DATA ENTRY AND COMMUNICATION: PROBLEMS SOLVED Voice recognition compatible for on-the-fly transcription of text, findings, reports, progress notes, etc., directly into the patient s record without requiring an expensive and time-consuming transcription service. Compatible with Dragon Medical for the ultimate in in-office medical transcription. Medics FlowText is a built-in MedicsDocAssistant EHR capability developed by ADS. Utilizing Dragon Medical, Medics FlowText automatically inserts text into the correct fields in the patient s MedicsDocAssistant EHR record. See for an instance of Medics FlowText. Handwriting recognition allows providers to make electronic handwritten notations on charts, on anatomical views, and on electronic sticky notes for future reference. Electronic superbills allow for procedure and diagnoses codes to be entered directly into the billing system during the encounter for quick processing to the payer. Secure intra-office Message Alerts and To-Do Lists keep providers and users on track and in the loop throughout the practice while the system s Chart Organizer keeps track of any unsigned encounters. MedicsPortal is a dynamic, timesaving option for connecting patients to practice, and vice versa. With secure internet connectivity, username, and password protections, patients can use MedicsPortal 24 x 7 x 365 to request appointments, view their medical information, handle Rx refills, complete paperwork and questionnaires online prior to their appointments (no more clip board on arrival with the associated manual input of that data by office staff), and for secure messaging. MedicsKiosk does essentially the same for patients to use in the waiting room. MedicsPortal and MedicsKiosk gives patients the ability to do much of their own work, without requiring staff intervention. And, the practice is always in control over the level of capabilities patients can have with each.
4 INTERFACES: THE KEY TO INTEROPERABILITY MedicsDocAssistant EHR interfaces with diagnostic equipment such as EKGs, sonograms, holter monitors and spirometry meters; results become part of the patient s MedicsDocAssistant EHR record in a variety of graphical displays for easy comparison to past tests. See for a representation for a representation of integration with Midmark equipment. Interfaces to diagnostic equipment other than Midmark can also be performed. The MedicsDocAssistant EHR is also able to be interfaced with virtually any existing practice management (billing) system. If the practice or revenue cycle management company is seeking an updated PM system as well, MedicsPremier from ADS represents an excellent choice. MedicsDocAssistant is interfaced with a number of HIEs and may already be interfaced with yours, if your hospital is hosting one. Contact ADS for more information on integration with HIEs and other networked communities. Document and image scanning quickly enters a variety of documents and images into MedicsDocAssistant s In Basket for review and attaching to the patient s record. Fast document retrieval and routing can be can be executed at any future time. UNENCUMBERED CONNECTIVITY: iphone, ipad, I CAN! The Medics OnCall option gives providers the ability to connect with MedicsDocAssistant EHR using their ipad, iphone, Droid, Blackberry or other internet-capable smart phone or handheld device. Excellent for hospital rounds, physicians can view patient demographics, post encounters, view schedules and generate prescriptions through MedicsRx. The MedicsDocAssistant EHR not only provides powerful, state-of-the-art automation, but in a world of ipads, iphones, Droids, Blackberries, and other smart phones and handhelds, it will represent your practice as being at the forefront of healthcare technology. A physician entering into the exam room using a portable tablet PC portrays a completely different image over one who enters with a clipboard. MedicsDocAssistant EHR, MEANINGFUL USE, AND YOUR INCENTIVES $17 billion has been earmarked for physicians and certain other healthcare providers to adopt and Meaningfully Use a certified EHR. The incentives are being made available to physicians through Medicare and Medicaid. Depending upon when physicians attested, a maximum of $44,000 or $65,000 could be obtained through Medicare or Medicaid, respectively over the course of the incentive program. These are per-physician, not per-practice incentives. Physicians can declare themselves to be under Medicare or Medicaid, but not both. The declaration can change one time during the program. MEANINGFUL USE The concept of MU is simple: in order to obtain incentives, physicians must declare through Attestation that they are actually using their certified EHR in a meaningful way, and have done so for at least a period of 90 consecutive days.
5 WHY MedicsDocAssistant EHR AND ADS FOR YOUR INCENTIVES? Today, you only want an EHR that is Stage 2 certified right now, and not worry about vendors who say their EHRs will be Stage 2 certified. MedicsDocAssistant V.7.0 is certified as a complete EHR for Stage 2 Meaningful Use, helping to ensure physicians can obtain both Stage 1 and Stage 2 incentives. ADS provides a variety of tools and resources dedicated to having physicians obtain their incentives. These include (1) MedicsDocAssistant s built-in real time Meaningful Use Dashboard which guides the provider to achieving MU, (2) MU webcasts, videos, and documentation, and (3) our own internal MU assistance. MedicsDocAssistant EHR s built-in Meaningful Use Dashboard easily guides the individual provider toward achieving MU. Once MU has been achieved, the physician can then move into the Attestation phase after which incentives are processed. Many other dashboards require users to wait up to 30 days before it can be refreshed leading to disappointment and lost time on MU progress. Since the MedicsDocAssistant EHR MU Dashboard automatically refreshes data to the date range selected by the physician whenever it is opened, physicians can review their up-to-the-minute MU progress as often as they want. This allows the physician to see exactly when MU is achieved, at which point the physician can attest to MU. Even if EHR incentives did not exist, implementing and using the MedicsDocAssistant EHR is something from which any medical practice would benefit. With its features, benefits, efficiencies, security and cost-effectiveness, MedicsDocAssistant EHR stands on its own in terms of being a robust solution for physicians and healthcare providers. But incentives do exist, making MedicsDocAssistant EHR that much more invaluable to the practice, especially being certified for Stage 2 MU. The system is easy to implement, learn, and use, and it is remarkably affordable whether in Cloud / ASP or Customer Hosted format. Practices also using our MedicsPremier system for practice management enjoy an even greater level of efficiency and productivity with the system s comprehensive EDI, Billing, Collections, Scheduling, Reporting, and Statements capabilities. MedicsDocAssistant EHR and MedicsPremier integrate seamlessly creating a single, unified solution for practices interested in both capabilities. If yours is a Radiology practice, you will be interested in our robust MedicsRIS. Together with MedicsDocAssistant EHR for Radiology, radiologists can also derive the incentives to which they are entitled. You are encouraged to contact ADS to learn more about the MedicsDocAssistant EHR for your specialty, and about any of our other Medics Suite of solutions. See for yourself why thousands of physicians rely on automation systems from ADS every day!
