3 1957 EOS was established in 1957 by Presidential Decree no. 29/ In 1979 the recently established Quality Control Centre was annexed to EOS and its name was modified to The Egyptian Organization for Standardization and Quality Control by the presidential Decree no. 392/ Again its name was changed to Egyptian Organization for Standardization and Quality by the presidential Decree no. 83/

4 The ministerial decree No. 135/2010 concerning The establishment of the National Quality Council for Industry has been replaced by the decree No. 568/2012 The changes have been made on decree No. 135/2010 are as follows : - The chairman of EOS was the council convener now he is a member - The chairman of national quality institute has been added to the construction of the council

6 Preparation and issuing Egyptian Standards. Licensing the grant of Quality Marks & Conformity certificates for various products. Rendering technical consultancy services in the areas of Standards and Quality. Carrying out laboratory inspections and testing. Representation of Egypt in international and regional organizations working in the fields of Standards and Quality. 6

7 Cont. Egyptian Organization for Calibration of measuring and testing equipments for industrial companies and establishments. Providing information in the fields and activities of standards and quality. Providing training services on all activities of Standards and Quality. EOS comprises WTO/TBT Enquiry point regarding Standards,Technical Regulations and Conformity Assessment procedures and is responsible for notifying WTO/TBT secretariat of proposed Egyptian TR and CA which may affect international trade. procedures 7
