3 Introduction to the Organization Incorporated as a private, non-profit organization in 1966 to provide residential treatment to youth. Ranch Ehrlo currently provides a range of assessment, treatment, education, and support services designed to improve the lives and functioning of children, adolescents and families. Referrals to the residential treatment program come from over 46 agencies from across Canada. Family inclusion in residential treatment has been key element of agency strategic planning.
4 Development of Family Programs 1992 Family workshops, weekend retreats and family camps begin in Regina Opened Dalla Vicenza House Group home with a dedicated and intensive family focus Family worker hired for northern programs. 2003/4 Anne Pinay, board member takes sabbatical at work to research treatment programs for entire family Family treatment program begins
5 Current Continuum of Services
6 Family Treatment Program Program designed to safely reunify children in care with their family to improve family functioning and child well-being. Target population: Families are referred that require intensive intervention to alleviate child welfare risk; Have an identified need for specialized clinical services Families may reside in one of ten treatment houses while obtaining intensive treatment. Families are referred from various communities in Canada. Services to families are delivered by specially trained treatment staff. Length of treatment varies on family need.
7 Program Components Intensive in-home services 24/7 support Low Caseload Single therapist supported by a treatment team Clinical supervision and consultation Parent counselling/education groups Range of cultural programs from elder support to Pow Wow classes Equine therapy Family camps
8 Treatment Format Referral Process includes pre-placement interview Intake meeting Comprehensive Assessment Individual Intensive Treatment Plan Transition to Termination Discharge Follow-up
9 Target Population Families referred have diverse and complex needs. Common referral concerns include: Multi-problematic families Specialized clinical services required Require intensive services Require specialized reunification services Intergenerational trauma related treatment needs Children with significant behavioral or complicated mental health concerns Presenting needs may include addiction recovery, mental health, child behaviour, housing, &/or parenting skills.

11 Ranch Ehrlo Society Performance Outcomes Program Since its inception, the agency has embraced a philosophy of quality management in the delivery of its programs and services. Quality improvement is agency-wide and includes every aspect of the residential treatment, education, vocational, family, and early learning programs. Program specific goals and individual client outcomes are determined by agency staff and stakeholders within the program logic framework.
12 Program Evaluation Improved family functioning, family safety and child well being. Measures: North Carolina Family Assessment Scale General and Reunification (NCFAS G&R), Pennsylvania Child Risk Assessment (PCRA), Efforts to Outcomes (ETO), Goal Attainment Score, Issues Rating and observation. Indicators: a) Decreased frequency and duration of out-of-home care; b) Improved scores on NCFAS G&R, PCRA, and Issues Severity Rating Scale; c) Number & percentage of families remaining together.
