2 What is Medical Coding? Medical coding is the transformation of healthcare diagnosis, procedures, medical services, and equipment into universal medical alphanumeric codes. The diagnoses and procedure codes are taken from medical record documentation, such as transcription of physician s notes, laboratory and radiologic results, etc. Medical coding professionals help ensure the codes are applied correctly during the medical billing process, which includes abstracting the information from documentation, assigning the appropriate codes, and creating a claim to be paid by insurance carriers. Enter the world of medical coding where jobs and salaries depend on having the right certification. Countless medical coding job opportunities are available in the Philippines. There are currently big companies such as Sutherland Global Services, EXL, UnitedHealth Group, SPI Global, World Source and more. Coding jobs in the country is rampant due to the high demand for talent. The people who get the AAPC certification can also work overseas. US Medical coder jobs that pay a high salary per-year and per-hour have one thing in common: Candidates with national certification like CPC from AAPC. Medical Coding is now considered to be a great career prospect for candidates who wish to relocate to UAE to seek for better career options in the healthcare sector. The health authority of Abu Dhabi (HAAD) has given clear guidelines for Medical coders working in Abu Dhabi hospitals. In the earlier part of her half-a-decade in medical coding, she was responsible for running the offshored processes for major metropolitan hospitals in the US East Coast. Khei s expertise later allowed her to cross-train and take over the helm for both the Training and Quality divisions of the latest organization of which she was a part. She comes to the team bringing with her a 100 % pass rate for coder-employees who trained under her leadership. Lacer Jake Padilla, RN, CCS, COC, CIC, CCDS Instructor Jake was ushered early in his career as Product Trainer for one of the pioneering medical coding programs in the country. Currently, he is the In-Patient Process Trainer for a Quezon City-based global company that runs a sizeable medical coding account.
