3 TB/MDR-TB Project Goals Extend the nursing workforce for TB/ MDR-TB ensuring that nurses: are equipped with relevant knowledge, skills to combat TB/MDR-TB train/supervise other health care workers effectivly market and implement the DOTS strategy are able to effectivly work with mangers, physicians, other health care professionals are participating in policy discussions at local and national level

10 PROJECT RATIONALE The role of managers for effective TB and MDR-TB control? - Serve as facilitators for doctors, nurses and community level health workers - Financial and organisational support for continuous & uninterrupted supply of TB treatment drugs The IHF generic materials and tools: - Not textbooks on TB and MDR-TB control - Clarify the roles and skills for managers (some of whom may be medics, nurses or administrators) in developing and maintaining a successful and sustainable TB and MDR-TB control programme.

11 PROJECT OBJECTIVE Preparation of a Training Manual for hospital/clinic/health facility managers engaged specifically in TB and MDR-TB Control programmes. Course participant to emerge prepared to assume and exercise the vital role in leadership, planning, implementation and follow-up of more effective and sustainable TB and MDR-TB control programmes.
