Having spent 28 years as an NSW Paramedic, has enabled Jim to see first aid the need for well-trained responders at the scene of an accident. Tony Fagan from Where to from here Tony s focus as a consultant to many RTOs, is to take them from thinking about compliance, towards operating in a quality management environment with one eye always on business excellence. He is a strong advocate of the concept that the principles of quality management underpinning sustainable business. Tony has worked in Vocational Education and Training for over 20 years in many roles including RTO Management, auditing, instructional design and training and assessing. He was originally with the Ambulance Service of NSW and now works for the Queensland Ambulance Service. Having completed undergraduate qualifications including Diploma of Paramedical Science, Bachelor of Health Science - Paramedic, Intensive Care Paramedicine and Aeromedical Retrieval, he is currently completing further study. - Application of cervical collars - Use of spinal boards, back boards and stretcher - Asthma and anaphylaxis treatments, pulse taking, snake bite and handover report - Multi casualty situation for bleeding and shock, fractures, RICE and spinal (Each group will do 2 work stations in this workshop) Lunch Lunch served in the foyer area The three C s Competitive and Committed to Compliance Finding the right balance Maciek Fibrich from RTO Management Group Business owners are often faced with the predicament of cost vs. compliance and how to stay profitable, while not only maintaining compliances but focusing on quality. The session will explore simple changes you can make within your organisation that will help you find the balance. Maciek is the Director of RTO Management Group as well as the Editor of RTO Management Magazine and has been working as a consultant in the VET sector for over a decade, focusing on the development of training within RTOs. Maciek holds his Lead Auditor Certification and has professional membership with the Australian Institute of Training and Development, the Institute of Learning Practitioners, the Institute of Learning and Development and the Vocational Education and Training Industry Group. Maciek is also a member of the Entrepreneur Organisation and earlier this year was appointed as an approved ACPET RTO Health check consultant.

Marc is the CEO and Founder of MRWED Training and Assessment, a private Australian registered training organisation, specialising in trainer training. He has been involved in workplace and vocational education for 18 years and has delivered training to thousands of students in areas as diverse as business management, health and safety, marketing, team building and training and development. Des Kutz Queensland Ambulance Paramedic and educator Des is an experienced Paramedic and has spoken at many of our conferences. He is a current member of the ARC. His present role within the Queensland Ambulance Service is with Community Service Unit delivering training and analysis of training needs within the service. Glenn Dudley Queensland Ambulance Paramedic Glenn started his healthcare career in 1996 in The Australian ARMY as a Medic, then went into nursing, specialising in Emergency Nursing and Neonatal Special Care Nursery. As the Director of Training within International Hotels he was instrumental at developing training and mentor programs to measure and improve service and performance. In addition Gavin has a developed a successful online business creating websites, and generating sustainable growth. Gavin joined Allens Training this year to further enhance our Partnership Program and build our online brand with a new website and social media presence Allowing Google to find your web site. Ben Cleaver from First Aider With a love for teaching and a degree in media, marketing and creative writing, Ben has used his passion for communication to help training organisations, IT firms and not-for-profits for over 10 years, in New York City to Vietnam and back home in Brisbane. 5 DAY TWO (continued) 1.30 Cardiac arrest survivor story Louise Owen First aid trainer 2.00 Question and answer sessions Jim Allen Allens Training Louise was 26 weeks pregnant and at work when she unexpectedly suffered a Sudden Cardiac Arrest in front of her Year 9 students. Louise had trained the students in CPR and they were very quick to respond to her situation. CPR was applied and the ambulance was called. Louise made a complete recovery and has since received a heart transplant. Louise has spoken at International Conferences, appeared on television and has had her remarkable story written in newspapers and magazines across the country. She continues to deliver the message of the importance of CPR, defibrillation and organ donation at every opportunity.
