Was active wound management provided versus sharp excisional debridement performed? This topic provides an overview of wound care as it relates to outpatient coding, real life cases will be presented along with useful information regarding types of grafts used in the wound care setting. 7 Outpatient CDI: Managing Medical Necessity, Denials, and Compliance - Anny Yuen, CCS, CCDS, CDIP o Location: Mockingbird 1 CDI Track As the payer mix changes in healthcare, the focus on payment justified by medical documentation is no longer confined to inpatient services. The volume of denials due to lack of medical necessity for outpatient services is increasing. As a result, providers must ensure that they develop processes around improving documentation to justify services in all areas of care provided. This session will define outpatient clinical documentation improvement (CDI) and explain why an outpatient CDI program is necessary in today's healthcare environment.
