While not part of the EAM Dept. at the time, this vounteer work is still applicable to emergency management given that hazardous debris can pose a safety hazard for the community. This organization focused on revamping the department's website. It was led by an intern and was the first time I had worked on a project outside of class. Working on this allowed me to network with students and faculty, as well as made me stand out as a student. allowed for networking opportunities as well as These meeting are what also drew me into becoming an officer. My volunteer work was done through Time Out For Tech booth and a booth at the Health and Wellness Conference. Time Out For Tech was a recruiting mechanism and also served to educate incoming freshmen about emergency management.the booth at the Health and Wellness Conference was about Spring Break safety and what to keep in your car in case there is an emergency. The training was over Damage Assessment. We partnered with Red Cross for this training and learned how natural disasters can affect structures and how damage is categorized. This complemented what I learned in EAM Policy regarding insurance claims.

In these meetings, we discussed financial matters, ideas for events, as well as where we can individually imporove as officers. I learned through these about the power of personality and what individuals have complementary personalities with myself. Being an officer also gave me an opportunity to develop my leadership skills further. The 2015 IAEM Conference was my first major professional conference. I processed personnel information, assisted with finances, participated in seminars, and consulted with professionals. I was able to network with professionals, including the individual who ended up hiring me for an internship. allowed for networking opportunities as well as The volunteer work was completed through the 2015 Homecoming board and the 2015 Homecoming parade. Working these events and assisting where possible allowed me to understand the importance of community involvement, as well as continue to network and connect with fellow emergency management students. My training was in CPR Certification, Volunteer Connection, Shelter Simulation, Damage Assessment, and Psychological First Aid. All trainings helped fill my knowledge base as an emergency manager, as well as a citizen who is interested in their own safety. allowed for networking opportunities as well as I volunteered for the 2015 Veteran's Day Football Game. Here, I staffed the booth and handed out information regarding the organization. This helped me to further connect with the community.

I volunteered at the Little Rock Dream Center. We would travel to one of the low-income housing developments where we then played with the children and brought activities for them to do. Understanding where special populations such as these is important for emergency managers. The meetings involved discussing travel plans as well as Robert's Rules of Order. Robert's Rules of Order is a critical tool used for democratic and parlimentary procedures. I was part of the Model Arab League Special Committee. Our area of study was on terrorism and extremism in Lebanon. This conference furthered my interest in studying terrorism and furthered myeducation regarding conflicts in the Middle East. During my internship, I participated in unclassified conferences and meetings, assisted in writing a threat analysis, created maps using digital databases of information, wrote and disseminated departmental policies, and compiled and reorganized agency information. This conference took up one of my weeks of work during my internship. During the conference, I consulted with professionals from the Joint Terrorism Task Force (JTTF), Arkansas Department of Corrections, Arkansas State Fusion Center, and the Mississippi WMD Coordinator. During my internship, I facilitated tabletop and functional exercises, managed personnel information, revised and published annexes for the city s Emergency Operations Plan (EOP), catalogued and organized electronic information, and managed federal assets. During the basketball games, I monitored and analyzed digital intelligence, prepared situational reports, assisted with

For the training, we analyzed several production methods of methamphetamines, examined common shipment routes, and trained in proper disposal methods. I was responsible for renovating the campus EOC. I worked with several other students over three weekends to renovate the room. The lecture discussed a lockdown procedure known as Run, Hide, Fight. The lecture was given by the emergency manager of the campus. The lecture discussed intersectional feminism and how it should be the way feminism is thought of. The lecture was given during Women's Week. The lecture involved watching a movie about a scientist who studies how climate change affects local populations around the world. The natural disasters the scientist spoke of are critical for emergency management due to the severity of the disasters and how much more often they are occuring. I tutored many students in a variety of classes throughout my time in school. Many of these students were international students from Saudi Arabia. I also acted as a Teaching Assistant during my senior capstone class. My independent study was about the mentality of terrorist organizations with the emphasis being a comparison between the Red Army Faction of Germany and the Red Brigades of Italy. At this conference, I was able to network with professionals, including the individual who ended up hiring me for an internship.

5 2017 ATU EAM Conference - April Hours Delta Sigma Omicron - April May Hours Total Hours = 1,203 At this conference, I was able to network with professionals, including the individual who gave me crucial information regarding jobs I can apply for after graduation. These meetings are part of the Rehab Science Department. Those who are disabled are a special population and need to always be considered by an emergency manager during the planning process.
