3 710 APPENDIX B Medical Assisting Task List and Competency Tables CAAHEP EDUCATIONAL COMPETENCIES * The Commission on Accreditation and Allied Health Education Programs (CAAHEP) has developed standards and guidelines for medical assisting educational programs. These curriculum standards have been adopted by the American Association of Medical Assistants (AAMA) and used by the Medical Assisting Education Review Board (MAERB) in the accreditation process for programs who train individuals to enter the medical assisting profession. Following are the 2015 core curriculum requirements, which identify three areas that have been determined to be entry-level competencies for medical assistants: ** (1) knowledge (cognitive), (2) skills (psychomotor), and (3) behavior (affective).
