KNOWING ANDREA BOCELLI FOUNDATION WHY WE ARE HERE 1

Why a Founda2on? It is for faith in love and in jus3ce that we are called upon to build a be8er world than the one we have found, called upon to give back to the world all of the good that we have received : with the words of our founder, with this belief the Andrea Bocelli FoundaFon intends to work because of our intervenfons, individuals and communifes can express themselves to the utmost of their possibilifes, exceeding their own limits. The objecfve is to become a laboratory full of life, a pillar of support made up of lots of small protagonists, all joined together by their passion for the music of Andrea Bocelli who meet together, in every corner of the world, working generously so that even the most unlucky people or the weakest have the chance to live a life full of opportunifes and beauty and so that those who deserve can find energy and real possibilifes to give their very best. UniFng strength is the winning slogan of such an enthralling project: being able to provide our neighbours with concrete help, conquering the priceless privilege of being useful, in the certainty of the quality of each form of intervenfon. 2

Our ambi2on Vision I strongly believe that love does jusfce. And it is for this simple reason that we are all responsible for building a beter world. Since love energizes faith, the opposite must also be true. The amazing lives we have been giwed, offers us the privilege, opportunity, and responsibility to give the less fortunate a beter future and opportunifes. Andrea Bocelli. Mission The Andrea Bocelli FoundaFon was created to help people in need due to illness, disability, poverty and social exclusion by promofng and supporfng nafonal and internafonal projects that support the overcoming of these barriers and full self- expression. The FoundaFon works to ensure that each person and each community can express themselves to the best of its abilifes beyond their limits. 3

Our values: the 5 C s v Courage v Care v Concreteness v Competence v Coopera2on the courage of believing in small or big changes about people around us working for giving real solufons to the problems work is done professionally and with responsibility Enable posifve relafonships between donor/foundafon and foundafon/beneficiary, converging needs and will together. 4

Program of ac2vi2es Challenges The Challenges program operates within the area of scienffic and technological research and social innovafon, accepfng major challenges in terms of both investments and results to be achieved in the willingness to allow anyone who experiences economic or social difficulfes to express themselves Break the Barriers The Break the Barrier Program stems from the desire to support projects contribufng to breaking down barriers, be they economic or cultural, in Italy and in Developing Countries. For the Andrea Bocelli FoundaFon, breaking down a barrier means to be successful in the desire to offer every human being freedom and dignity to live the life they deserve. Give people the ability to provide for themselves by creafng opportunifes for redempfon in terms of economic and social independence by acfng responsibly on real needs and acfvafng people s unexpressed energy. 6 Focus on Break the Barriers Program The ABF commitment for HaiF HAITI, 4 TH WORLD COUNTRY HaiF is one of poorest countries in the world, among the lowest in the rankings for childhood condifons, death rates and poverty. Ø 56% of the populafon suffers from malnutrifon; Ø 1 child out of 3 dies of malnutrifon or curable diseases before the age of 5; Ø 80% of the populafon live on less than 1 dollar a day; Ø 1 child out of 2 does not go to school; Ø the average life expectancy does not exceed 55; 70% of the populafon do not have a job. Infrastructures, sewage system, water distribufon and electrical systems are not present or very poor. January 2010: a terrible earthquake caused 230,000 vic2ms, 300,000 casual2es and 1 million homeless. Nowadays the country is s2ll recovering from the disaster and in the mean2me it has been struck by cholera, chikungunya and two hurricanes. 6

Focus on Break the Barriers Program Projects in HaiF realized unfl now by ABF and Andrea Bocelli Between 2008 and 2013 Andrea Bocelli personally supported Fondazione Francesca Rava NPH Italy in important NPH projects in HaiF such as St. Damien pediatric Hospital, a RehabilitaFon center, a new orphanage and St Luc FoundaFon Street Schools and water distribufon programs saving thousands of children. HOUSE OF LITTLE ANGELS, KAY SAINT GERMAINE : contribufon to the construcfon of NPH RehabilitaFon center for disabled children BABY HOUSE SAINTE ANNE: A new home for 40 children (0-5 years old) orphaned by the earthquake or from vulnerable families. VIRGINIA PROJECT: support for one year to the maternity ward at St Damien, covering the costs of staff and its training, equipment and consumables. W.H.E.A.T. PROJECT Water Health Educa2on Ac2on Time A water truck brings clean, potable water to the slums of Port au Prince: 6 trucks a week, six Fmes a day, providing 34 millions liter of water a year along with a great deal of hope and health in the poorest areas of the capital. Cover of the running costs of 3 street schools: the St.AugusFn (600 children) in Abricots, Jeremie, Ste Philomene (243 children) in Kenscoff, Notre Dame Du Rosaire (320 children) in Croix des Bouquets. As an incenfve to atend school, students receive packs of 4 kgs of pasta to take home to their families. The pasta is produced in a local professional training center. 7

Focus on Break the Barriers program ABF partnership in HaiF NPH Haiti All it started some years ago whe Andrea met Father Rick FrecheTe, America priest and phisycian who worked in HaiF from 26 years. He is the director of NPH HaiFt and Founder and director of HaiFan FoundaFon Saint Luc. As a partner of ABF, NPH is a part of internafonal organizafon and the St. Luc FoundaFon is a HaiFan run organizafon that provides educafon, medical care and dignified humanitarian outreach to over 150,000 people per year through life giving programs that employ over HaiFan staff. Founded in 2000, Saint Luc programs provide: Ø educafon and food to over students per year Ø medical care to over people per year Ø employement opportunifes and professional training Ø clean water deliveries 8

Health care program in HAITI The healthcare programs in HaiF are mofvated by the gospel command to care for the sick and strive to offset the injusfces of poverty which make healthcare inaccessible for many people. Poverty imposes a tremendous burden of sickness and suffering on children. As part of ABF and NPH, St. Damien Pediatric Hospital offers to any child in need quality and dignified healthcare. St. Damien strives to include parent parfcipafon through ongoing dialogue, on- site educafon and the encouragement of material support. 9

St. Damien- HaiF s Premier Pediatric Hospital The island nafon of HaiF is located in the Caribbean and is the poorest country in the Western Hemisphere. Poor sanitafon and widespread poverty have led to young children being 15 Fmes more likely to die from diarrhea or pneumonia than HIV/AIDS. One out of four children are moderately to severely malnourished, and 138,000 children (79 out of 1000) die of preventable diseases each year. In a country where 1/3 of the populafon is under 14- years- old, improvements in pediatric health are a vital and necessary requirement towards HaiF s economic, social, and polifcal development. Funded through private contribufons, St. Damien provides high quality medical treatment for disadvantaged and sick children in HaiF. More than half of all pafents are admited for infecfous disease such as tuberculosis, malaria, and HIV while 25% are admited for non- infecfous diseases such as cancer, cardiovascular disease, and kidney infecfon. Most pafents admited are also malnourished. The outpafent clinic treats 100 children daily, for acute, parasifc, and bacterial infecfons. In specialized clinics, chronic condifons such as sickle cell anemia, congenital heart diseases (CHD), tuberculosis and cancer are treated for months or years if needed. 10

Eventually they will also provide service to a regular pediatric surgical service. Dental Clinic: One denfst and two technicians offer daily services to both adults and children. High- Risk Maternity: The high- risk maternity program delivers approximately 2,000 babies per year. The program has 15 obstetricians (part and full Fme), and eight midwives among other professionals. Each month the program receives two volunteer midwives from Italy. The program collaborates closely with the St. Luke Manitane Pre- natal clinic and St. Luke Outreach Clinics in the slums. Malnutri2on: Children with severe malnutrifon are usually hospitalized for six weeks and are treated based on the nafonal protocol. This department treats children from many areas owhe country. PaFents first receive a special liquid formula made of mild mulfvitamins and oligo elements. ForFfied peanut buter with added nutrifonal ingredients is administered at the last phase for rapid treatment. The monthly average of pafents is

While some essenfal drugs are produced and purchased in HaiF, many medicafons and supplies are imported from AcFon Medeor, a specialist supplier for charity projects from Germany and IDA, a similar supplier from Holland Radiology: The hospital has a digital x- ray which performs 400 x- rays a month and is capable of sending images to an external radiologist in the United States. More than 90% of all x- rays are chest exams of the lungs for respiratory tract infecfons. Surgery: St. Damien s surgery is composed of two surgical suites, a recovery room, prep room, and a sterile changing area. The staff of 15 includes one consultant pediatric surgeon, four nurses, two Malnutrition: with severe usually hospitalized six weeks are surgeries cerffied nursing Children assistants, and two malnutrition technicians are who were trained in for Italy. The program receives regular technical support from Bambin Gesù Hospital in Rome. Pediatricians and nurses receive four week training regularly at this hospital while nurses and neonatologists come for two to four weeks to confnue the training onsite. The St. Damien Neonatology unit is one of only five neonatology departments available in the country. Since neonatal deaths accounts for half of the whole pediatric mortality rate, St. Damien is thrilled to bring this invaluable service to the country. Although progress was made in HaiF, cu_ng by 20% the pediatric mortality rate in the country, the neonatal death rate has remained unchanged for the last 15 years. Oncology/Hematology: St. Damien s Pediatric Oncology/Hematology Center has been in existence since 2006 and has treated almost 300 pafents throughout HaiF. The Center treats both solid tumor and blood cancers (such as leukemia, lymphoma, refnoblastoma, rhabdomyosarcoma, osteosarcoma, Wilms, hepatoblastoma, neuroblastoma, (ovarian, tesfcular). Chemotherapy and surgical intervenfons are provided onsite at the St Damien campus and radiafon therapy is provided in Santo Domingo in the Dominican Republic. Laboratory: The laboratory has the capacity to do many essenfal tests, including malaria blood smears, 13 HIV, and sickle cell and bacteriological studies. Other tests are done at outside labs.

HIV Program in Saint Demien HIV Program: The HIV Program began in April 2005, using its own funds to provide care for children infected with HIV. The children were idenffied from an ambulatory clinic in the slums of Cite Soleil and Warf Jérémie, where Fr. Rick FrecheTe, DO, was administering to pafents. Included in this program were approximately 20 youths living at the St. Helene home in Kenscoff. MULTIDISCIPLINARY TEAM: From 2005, St. Damien received a grant from the University of Washington, contracfng with CDC/ PEPFAR in HaiF, to care for children exposed and infected with HIV. With these funds St. Damien was able to hire a mulfdisciplinary team and started to enroll more children exposed and infected with HIV. The team is made up of one psychologist, two social workers, and four physicians including the manager of the program, four nurses, two pharmacists, five field workers, one mid wife, and four administrafve staff. The five field agents visit the families to make sure the children receive appropriate care in their home and are compliant to their medicafon. The field agents encourage the pafents to return to the clinic if they miss their appointments. PREVENTION PROGRAM: In 2011, in conjuncfon with the maternity department, the HIV program added a prevenfon program for pregnant women infected with HIV to prevent the transmission of the virus to their newborns. Children are screened for HIV along with their mothers at the general ambulatory clinic and then enrolled in our care if they test posifve. SCREENING AND SUPPORT: Annually the program screens 10,000 adults and children for HIV ending with 2% being posifve. Together with their parents, the children infected with HIV receive psychological follow- up care and medical treatment including anf- retroviral therapy. Social workers assist with coordinafon o other PEPFAR or Global Fund programs offering economical help, food, housing, vocafonal training, micro credit opportunifes and academic scholarships.

HIV Program in Saint Demien To date, approximately 900 children are followed 361 receive anf- retroviral therapy (ART). Every year approximately 60 pregnant women benefit from the prevenfon of transmission of HIV to their babies. OWen Fmes it is too late for prevenfon because mothers receive screening only when they come to deliver their babies. The infants then receive prophylaxis at birth.

HUMAN RESOURCES AT SAINT DEMIEN The hospital is staffed with a total of 468 employees 389 full- Fme employees 60 short term contracts and part- Fme employees 9 staff members from St. Luke FoundaFon, a sister hospital Among other posifons there are: 15 administrative 18 pediatricians 60 nursing assistants 8 lab technicians 2 x- ray auxiliary technicians 2 pharmacists 3 data clerck 50 registered nurses 1 radiologist 21 pharmacist aides
