18 ipad Proof of Concept Project DayBreak Mental Health Coordination Service Inc. and Iliuliuk Family and Health Services Goals for the project Our goal was to continue to provide regularly scheduled appointments, crisis intervention, family visits, and to avoid hospital admission and re-admission. Long term we would like to be able to provide live admission and discharge planning which are all possible using this technology. 18
19 DayBreak Mental Health Coordination Services and Iliuliuk Family and Health Services The use of mobile devices (m-health) is a significant adjunct to crisis intervention. Mobile health or mobile computing demonstrates how this technology can be a tool to improve access to care and outcomes. i-pads(or tablets ) allow providers, case managers, and ultimately patients to communicate securely with each other when and where the opportunity presents itself. Vidyo software is an application that provides HIPAA secure video conferencing. i-pads establish instant connectivity; no searching for a connection. The Distant site API receives the Vidyo signal on ipad, desktop or room system. 19
