6 Results from implementing South-South Cooperation COLOMBIA Post training result Strengthening leadership skills and strategic planning at PAICMA Update of the functional structure and mechanisms for planning, tracking and monitoring of interventions Review of information management strategies and management of mine action in the national and local level Advances in the design of intervention scenarios for moving towards a system of planning Post training follow up Assessment of post training in Colombia and extended training provided to local authorities in Columbia in 2012 Planning is underway for extended cooperation in the field of MRE, VA (in Cambodia) and clearance (in Colombia) Results from implementing South-South Cooperation Lao, PDR Results of the cooperation (on-going cooperation) 2012 CMAC team visited Lao, PDR to undertake institutional training capacity assessment at UXO Lao 2013 UXO Lao visited CMAC to understudy different Management systems at CMAC Nepal Results of the cooperation Inquiry for another training in Cambodia 6

7 Results from implementing South-South Cooperation Myanmar Results of visit from Myanmar Peace Centre Myanmar is interested to learn about Cambodia Mine Action experience Cambodia is willing to share its experience and having future cooperation JICA is willing to assist in the future Cambodia-Myanmar cooperation GICHD Results of previous cooperation activities Continue cooperation more training workshops will be organized in Cambodia Lessons learned from implementing South- South Cooperation Benefits Meeting APMBC Article 6 in respect to the States Parties assisting other States Parties Meeting the Cartagena Action Plan ( ), article 36, 44, 46 and 47 Win-win proposition where both parties learned and gained Difficulties Need lots of effort (time and energy) from the delivering organization to design, develop and deliver the program Need financial support in one form or another (sponsorship from a third party) Difficulty in turning tacit knowledge into explicit one to be able to share with other 7

8 Exchange visits by other States States: We have received 12 countries for the exchange visits namely Angola, Afghanistan, Colombia, Eretria, Lao PDR, Myanmar, Sri Lanka, Nepal, Peru, South Sudan, Thailand and Vietnam. We also went to see the other programs such as Afghanistan and Lao PDR. Purpose of visit to Cambodia are: To observe how Cambodian legal frameworks on MA (National Authority and Demining Operators and other related agencies on VA and MRE); MA Mechanism and structure; Planning and Prioritization, post clearance land used; Quality Management; Demining operation, survey, data management; Bidding process, modality of fund used; ERW reporting and intervention etc. 8
