11 The Next Phase of TEIN: project is a continuation of, and builds on the successful stories of TEIN projects. 60-month, from 1 Sep. 2016, jointly funded by the EC and 24 Asian partners. 20M from EC, other co-funding from partners is about 16.5M Euros (The total is 36.5M Euros). provide and further develop a dedicated regional high capacity, high quality Internet connectivity using TEIN network, also leverage the e-infrastructure for public service projects. 12 The Goal of Regional Integration and Cooperation Provide and further develop a dedicated regional high capacity, high quality Internet connectivity network for research and higher education, also leveraging the e-infrastructure developed for public service projects and access to the Internet for LDCs Zone benefiting from the action/location Other Asian countries may join during the course of Asi@Connect. Developed country participants may carry out project activities for the benefit of developing country participants

13 Objectives of continuously upgrade the advanced pan-asian research and education Internet connectivity network further enabling research and education collaboration across Asia and globally develop capacity of developing country NRENs build capacity in network engineering expertise at university and NREN level for developing countries deploy advanced network engineering products and services to NRENs and their universities in developing countries scale-up ongoing TEIN R&E collaborations with the potential to generate widespread societal benefits and leverage the infrastructure to address the digital divide in developing Asian countries and promote economic growth.

15 General Guidelines One proposal for one WP per proposer can be submitted, however another separate proposal can be permitted to other WPs (e.g. a proposer submits two proposals, one for WP3 and the other for WP5). In case of a proposal related with more than one WP, it should be required more concrete information and budget plan to each related WP. Some financial eligibility information is considered to be provided.

17 General Evaluation Criteria Not limited to the following areas, subject to any change to the contents of the Proposals: Quality of programs (e.g. effects on the developing countries and networks) Aligned with WP purpose and scope Clear benefit for the community Regional diversity and balance Clear objectives and well structured methodology Capacity of proposers. Demonstrated capacity to manage funds, conduct project activities and document outcomes effectively, within the specified budget and time limits Cost factors, realistic budget and timeframe proposed Potential for growth/further development Relationship with other existing projects at a regional/global level Visibility & PRs, etc.
